‘Middle of Dance Floor’ — Pat McAfee Shares Update on Patrick Mahomes’ Health After Attending Travis Kelce’s Wedding

Pat McAfee revealed that despite his injury, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes was on the dance floor during Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's wedding.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL during a Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, ending a miserable season for the Kansas City Chiefs. For the first time in his illustrious career, Mahomes missed the postseason as the Chiefs slumped to a woeful 6-11 record.

Pat McAfee Reveals Patrick Mahomes’ Health Update

During Monday’s segment of the “Pat McAfee Show,” host Pat McAfee revealed that despite his injury, Mahomes was dancing during Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s wedding at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

“I saw the entire Kansas City Chiefs team,” McAfee said. “I know he [Mahomes] was injured last year, and I don’t wanna give wanna away too much stuff breaking from the wedding, Patrick Mahomes was in the middle of the dance floor. How could you not be, with everything that’s going on?”

After extensive rehabilitation, Mahomes is expected to be available for the Chiefs’ Week 1 game against the Denver Broncos. For the first time in several years, the Chiefs are not considered one of the favorites for the Super Bowl after appearing in five of the last seven Super Bowls.

Before last season, the Chiefs had been to the postseason for 10 consecutive seasons and won nine straight AFC West Division titles, but their success next season will likely hinge on Mahomes’ health.

During an appearance on last week’s segment of the “NFL Live” show, ESPN analyst Adam Schefter revealed that Mahomes was on track to start for the Chiefs in Week 1, but questioned whether he would be back to his best immediately.

“Although I think he is obviously in the Chiefs’ opinion ahead of schedule, it sounds like he’s tracking to be ready for that Monday night opener. The real question will be not whether he plays, but how effective he’ll be coming off that ACL that he tore in December. LCL injury, significant injury, but he’s making progress, he is working hard,” Schefter said.

“If anybody’s gonna get back for opening night against the Broncos on Monday Night Football, it will be Patrick Mahomes. But that will be the big question: what percent of Patrick Mahomes is he actually when he gets out there that opening Monday night?”

Before his injury last season, Mahomes tallied 3,587 passing yards on 62.7% completion, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while adding 422 rushing yards and five scores. He earned a PFSN QB Impact score of 79.0, ranking him at No. 11 in the NFL.

The Chiefs traded for quarterback Justin Fields from the New York Jets to add experience to their QB room, which has Chris Oladokun and Garrett Nussmeier.
