The Carolina Panthers have been a tough team to figure out this season; in some games, they look great, while in others, they look awful. However, the 3-3 record is understandable through six games, given their inconsistent play. The Panthers seem to be a completely different team on the road compared to at home.
They are undefeated at home and have not won a game on the road. Those are glaring splits, and it will be interesting to see if that continues throughout the year. Something that could help the Panthers is getting a few players back from injury.
Jalen Coker Expected to Return Soon
One player the Panthers have been without all season is wide receiver Jalen Coker. He is a second-year player who showed flashes of potential last season when given the opportunity. Now, all of Panther Nation is excited to see what he can do with a full-time role.
Coker has been on the IR with a quad injury, but his practice window has since been opened, and he is getting close to returning. Many people think Coker is set to be activated before the Panthers’ Week 7 game with the New York Jets. According to Sheena Quick, the Panthers waived DB Trevian Thomas, opening up a roster spot for Coker to be activated.
#Panthers waived DB Trevian Thomas today, perhaps clearing a roster spot for WR Jalen Coker who can be activated at any time.

Last season, Coker played in 11 games, catching 32 passes for 478 yards and two touchdowns. Coker will likely slot into the Panthers’ offense as WR2 behind Tet McMillan. The Panthers are not a pass-heavy offense, but they could always benefit from more explosive playmakers.
Panthers Showing Improvement this Season
Although the Panthers sit at 3-3, it is hard to say they have not shown improvement this season. It is year two with head coach Dave Canales, and he appears to be moving things in the right direction.
The most important thing for the Panthers is the continued development of quarterback Bryce Young. He is in his third season and is well on pace to set career highs in passing yards and passing touchdowns. Young still has plenty of room to grow as a passer, and that will hopefully come as the year goes on.
Young has a QB Impact Score of 64.8 this season, which is relatively unimpressive. Still, he is developing, and the Panthers hope he can take that next step into a sure-fire franchise quarterback.
