Romeo Doubs catches what’s thrown his way and lines up in the cold Green Bay mud, but he wants more. The ball goes elsewhere while Jayden Reed runs like fire, Matthew Golden represents the future, and Dontayvion Wicks won’t wait his turn. Christian Watson works his way back from injury.
Meanwhile, Doubs sits steady and capable at just 25 years old, potentially the last man standing when the music stops. In this league, that can be reason enough to stick around.
Could Romeo Doubs Be Traded to Tennessee?
Mo Moten of Bleacher Report predicts that the Packers could trade Doubs to the receiver-needy Tennessee Titans. He argues that Green Bay has depth at the position with their other receivers, plus tight end Tucker Kraft, who racked up 50 catches, 707 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.
Doubs and Watson are set to become free agents in 2026, so Moten reasons that one could be valuable trade bait. Tennessee makes sense as a destination since the Titans are thin at receiver after Calvin Ridley. Should Doubs land with the Titans, he could slot in as the number two receiver ahead of Tyler Lockett.
However, the trade rumors have been all over the place. PFSN has already predicted that Doubs could see a reduced role in 2025, but there have been conflicting reports about a potential trade. In late April, rumors were swirling that Doubs could be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a possible pairing with Aaron Rodgers, but that was shot down.
What Health Concerns Surround Romeo Doubs?
Doubs also dealt with two scary concussions in 2024. In Week 12 against the 49ers, he took a brutal hit to the back of his head after catching a pass in the end zone and missed the next two weeks.
The injuries didn’t stop there. He played in the Wild Card game against the Philadelphia Eagles and suffered his second concussion when he slammed his head into the turf in the end zone. He remained down for a long time before being taken off the field.
Doubs was productive, if not spectacular, despite the health scares, in 2024. He caught 46 passes for 601 yards and four touchdowns, but he was reportedly unhappy with his role earlier in the season. According to Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber, Doubs skipped two practices before a Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
The frustration led to consequences. Doubs was suspended for one game and expressed remorse for the situation.
Whether the Packers will keep Doubs may depend more on the health of the receiver room than his talent.
