The Green Bay Packers enter the 2026 NFL season looking to rebound after last season ended in a Wild Card loss to the Chicago Bears.
Veterans such as Micah Parsons are expected to play a big role in that effort, while several EDGE rushers still available on the open market, like Haason Reddick, have also been linked as potential additions to strengthen the defense.
Packers Linked to Haason Reddick as Micah Parsons’ Recovery Continues
Parsons remains confident in his ability despite his injury setback, going as far as saying he believes he can break Myles Garrett’s single-season sack record within the next two years. Garrett set a new benchmark with 23 sacks in the 2025 season, surpassing Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt’s long-standing record of 22.5 sacks.
He also finished first in PFN’s EDGE Impact rankings, while Parsons ranked No. 17 after his season was cut short by injury.
However, that goal could be challenging, as Parsons is expected to miss at least the first half of the upcoming season, with the Packers prioritizing his full recovery over rushing him back before he is completely healthy.
Parsons’ injury has also intensified Green Bay’s need for additional help off the edge, and NFL Network’s Matt Okada has now suggested Haason Reddick as a logical option to boost the unit.
“When healthy, Micah Parsons is one of the best edge rushers in the NFL,” Okada wrote. “But the All-Pro is unlikely to return from his knee injury before mid-October, and the rest of Green Bay’s depth chart is less than inspiring.

“Former first-round pick Lukas Van Ness has just 8.5 sacks across three seasons, and rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton, a fourth-round selection, enters the league with ‘limited pass-rushing upside,’ per NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein. As I wrote back in April, I like the idea of adding free agent Haason Reddick to rotate in and play across from Parsons when he returns.”
Reddick has managed just 3.5 sacks over the past two seasons since leaving Philadelphia, but a reunion with Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon may help revive his production. Gannon previously coached Reddick with the Eagles, where he enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2022, totaling 16 sacks and earning an 87.6 PFN EDGE Impact grade.
Given his proven explosiveness and pass-rushing ability, Reddick may thrive again under Gannon’s system. The two-time Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro would also give the Packers another proven edge threat.
If Parsons returns at full strength, a pairing of Parsons and Reddick could develop into one of the NFL’s most dangerous pass-rushing duos.
