Calls Mount for Packers To ‘Fire’ Matt LaFleur As Fans Rip HC’s ‘Garbage’ Playcall in Loss vs. Eagles

The Green Bay Packers had one of their worst performances of the current regular season, losing 10-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles in a Monday Night Football game marked by the defensive performances of both teams.

Despite the defense’s consistency in giving up few points to one of the most aggressive teams of the season, the offense simply couldn’t produce enough to score more than one touchdown, leaving the crowd at Lambeau Field very angry with head coach Matt LaFleur.

Matt LaFleur Sees Pressure Mount After Packers’ Tough Loss on MNF

Many of the problems committed by the Packers during MNF consisted of poor play selection and, above all, a strategic approach. Jordan Love did not contribute (especially in the first half) and had a subpar performance. Still, the construction of the offense against a well-matched Eagles defense with two safeties represented a major failure in reading the game.

The first TD was scored only in the third quarter, when the Packers changed their approach and began to exert a greater physical presence on the offensive line, opting for shorter passes after Sean Rhyan replaced Elgton Jenkins as center. At the same time, LaFleur needs to show more confidence in Love, a QB who showed nervousness in the pocket due to a lack of protection at times.

Considering that LaFleur also serves as offensive coordinator, the decision to attempt a deep pass to Josh Jacobs on 4th & 1 at Green Bay’s 44-yard line was highly questionable. This play eliminated the Packers’ (who currently rank 8th in the PFSN Offense Impact with a B grade) best chance to keep the drive alive and score late in the game.

Recent statistics show the Packers have performed poorly on offense, scoring only 20 points in the last two games (both home losses). After the MNF failure, fans have increasingly called for LaFleur’s firing or for offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich to call the plays. “Fire LaFleur” said one.

“Matt LaFleur should be on the coaching hot seat. You have 2 timeouts and you rush a 4&2? That was embarrassing. The Packers offense is abysmal.” added another.

“Yeah fire Lafleur I’m done,” posted another fan.

The defeat suffered on MNF left the Packers with a 5-3-1 record, occupying 3rd place in the NFC North behind the Chicago Bears (6-3) and Detroit Lions (6-3), as well as keeping hopes alive for the Minnesota Vikings (4-5) to still think about a possible comeback until the end of the regular season.
