The first day of the Winter Olympics also has the opening ceremony. While some competitions, like curling and ice hockey, have already commenced on Feb. 4, the main chain of events will begin today. Leading the challenge will be prominent celebrities like Lindsey Vonn, Evan Bates, and Madison Chock, to name a few.
While Lindsey Vonn won’t be competing for a medal, she will be participating in the two-day training event for the women’s downhill. Vonn is the oldest female skier to participate in the Winter Olympics, and despite an ACL injury, is in contention for a strong podium finish. Apart from Vonn, Mikaela Shiffrin will also be aiming to flex her muscles ahead of the slalom events if she makes it to the final three of the US alpine skiing squad for the downhill event.
