Texas A&M Volleyball Head Coach Morrison Beams With Joy After NCAA Semifinal Success
Morrison has always exuded confidence about the volleyball his team has been playing, and even made headlines when he said that the Aggies were not intimidated by the top-ranked Nebraska team before the Elite Eight.
Much to his expectations, his mentees have been delivering back-to-back and are now headed to the Championship round after a three-set victory against Pittsburgh, 29-27, 25-21, 25-20, with big efforts from outside hitters Kyndal Stowers and Logan Lednicky.
This marked the third time a third-seeded team had defeated two No. 1 seeds, after UCLA did so in 2011 and Nebraska in 2021.
After the match, players and the head coach brimmed with emotion as they shared their feelings with courtside reporters.
Morrison could hardly hold back his happy tears as he spoke about how much the girls had enjoyed playing and commended their grit in rising to the occasion. The Texas A&M coach also stated that the girls are laser-focused on the ultimate goal this season.
“We play good volleyball and we have fun doing it. It really comes down to that. And the group’s enjoying themselves, they’re enjoying being in tough moments. They’re gritty. Whenever somebody goes on a run, we have a response. And all the things we’ve talked about in the entire season, I’ve said it, we’re built for this,” Morrison said.
Following the Aggies’ Elite Eight win, Morrison shared that he took a few minutes to process the epic match between his team and the Big Reds. He also said that he has imparted the lesson of enjoying the moment and creating memories to his players.
The Aggies have broken records this season, one of which was welcoming a path-breaking total audience of 287,000. In a recent media interaction, he stated that the demand for season tickets has increased significantly and that more fans will soon be willing to travel great distances to watch the Texas A&M volleyball team play.
The maroon-and-white will face either Kentucky or Wisconsin on Sunday, December 21, 2025. If they win, it will be their first National title in women’s volleyball in program history.
