Texas A&M Volleyball Welcomes Eliza Sharp For the Upcoming Season
The Aggies have been nothing short of phenomenal this season, posting an overall record of 29–4 and winning the first national title in program history after defeating the Kentucky Wildcats. Led by head coach Jamie Morrison, the Texas A&M team featured standout players such as Kyndal Stowers, Logan Lednicky, and Ifenna Cos-Okpalla, who anchored the squad throughout its successful NCAA Tournament run.
As per recent news, as the Aggies head to the upcoming season, they welcomed Sharp as their new middle blocker, who entered with three years of eligibility. She led the Boise State team to success with her impressive blocking and offensive production and ultimately earning the Mountain West Freshman of the Year honor.
Sharp became the fifth Bronco in the last eight seasons to earn the top freshman honor in conference, having led the entire country in total blocks among freshmen. Her .343 hitting percentage in the conference was the sixth-best in the Mountain West.
Texas A&M Volleyball Head Coach Beams With Joy After Aggies’ Monumental Win
The Aggies were a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA Tournament, ousting TCU and Louisville and setting up the most-anticipated Elite Eight match-up against the then-top-seeded Nebraska Volleyball. The Texas A&M Volleyball team emerged victorious, taking the win in five sets and advancing to the Final Four to face Pittsburgh.
They secured a somewhat one-sided victory over the Panthers and advanced to the finals for the first time against the Wildcats. After the 3–0 win, led by strong performances from Lednicky, who recorded 11 kills, and Stowers, who followed with 10, head coach Morrison said he could hardly believe it at first.
He then expressed pride in the squad, commending them for their hard work, saying:
“But man, I’m so proud of the group for the way that they have worked this entire season. We said it from the very beginning, if we did the right way for 7 months, this could happen, and we’re here, and it’s all to them.”
The Aggies defeated multiple No. 1 seeds as the third-seeded team, becoming one of the few teams to accomplish this feat.
