Noah Lyles Makes Special Announcement As Unexpected Event Added to New Balance Indoor Grand Prix Schedule

Noah Lyles is set to run in his second 300m race of the 2026 season this week, after winning at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Florida.

American sprint sensation Noah Lyles has announced the date of his next race for the 2026 season. Widely celebrated as one of the fastest men alive, Lyles capped off last season with a triumphant haul of three medals at the World Championships in Tokyo, seizing gold in both the 200m and 4x100m relays. Now, as a new season dawns, Lyles is determined to match – and perhaps surpass – his previous electrifying performances.

Recently, Lyles traveled to India to serve as the race ambassador and honorary starter at the Bajaj Pune Marathon on December 14, 2025, lending his star power to the event.

Noah Lyles Set To Compete This Week

Lyles has revealed he will compete at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix on January 24, where he will run in the 300m.

Lyles’ personal-best time in this event came at the 2017 US Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, where he recorded 31.87 seconds.

At the New Balance Grand Prix, he has four 60m titles.

In a post on Instagram, Lyles wrote: “Boston is not the season opener!
300m 1/24/26 @nbindoorgp,”

Lyles kicked off his season on January 16, 2026, at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, where he sprinted to victory in the men’s 300m with a time of 32.60 seconds. This result signals his renewed focus on mastering the 300m distance.

Lyles Speaks on Track and Field Rivalries

Lyles faces many tough competitors in the world of track and field, including Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek, who consistently push him to his limits. Although the American shares many fierce rivalries, he recently spoke about how the sport could improve in this aspect.

“I think that if a rivalry is cared for in the correct manner, then yes, it can be good,” Lyles said. “But calling every competition of an athlete going up against another athlete a rivalry is not the same. There has to be a story. There has to be a purpose. There has to be intent. Just the fact that they happen to show up at the same track meet is not a rivalry,” he said, as per Olympics.com.

He added, “I’d say the Usain Bolt vs Justin Gatlin was probably the biggest, most memorable one (in track and field recently). For a little while, there was the Shaunae (Miller) vs Allyson Felix rivalry… But even with those, they’re not really rivalries. They just happened to show up at the same track meets at the end of the year.”

Although track and field has lacked a headline rivalry in recent years, Lyles’ reign as the world’s top sprinter is sure to attract challengers eager to test his dominance.
