Former Nebraska libero Maisie Boesiger admitted she "started sobbing" with joy when her younger sister Malorie committed to the Huskers' 2027 class.

Nebraska Volleyball alum Maisie Boesiger recalled the moment she learned about her sister Malorie Boesiger’s commitment to the Huskers and how emotional she felt upon hearing the news. The Boesiger sisters pursued the same career after graduating from Norris High School.

Boesiger was a Nebraskan from 2022 to 2025, debuting at the collegiate level as a serving specialist. She helped her team win several times, and in 2025, started as a libero for the first time on Senior Day, posting a team-leading 22 serve attempts, 13 digs, and five assists. After the Big Reds’ heartbreaking loss to Texas A&M in the Elite Eight, Boesiger drew a line under her collegiate life but ensured she would stay in the sport through different roles.

Her sister, Malorie, who also followed the same career path, graduated from Norris and committed to the same college program, set to start as a setter in the class of 2027. Recalling the moment the news broke to the family, the libero shared that she was barely able to hold back her tears and started crying. Everyone was so excited. I started sobbing immediately. I could not hold back my joy.

“Everyone was so excited. I started sobbing immediately. I could not hold back my joy. I didn’t know where she was going to commit. She had some other options, and I was hoping and praying that she would stay close to home. So when she did commit, I was overjoyed,” she said.

The younger sister was ranked 14th by Prep Volleyball and 35th overall by PrepDig, and became the first to commit to the program.

Boesiger was always drawn to volleyball because her mother coached at Norris High School, where Boesiger lettered for four years. However, her first encounter with Nebraska Volleyball came through her father, who once took her to a game that left her in awe of the crowd and the energy inside the arena.

She immediately turned to her father, asking how she could sign up for the program, and thought it was the coolest thing. In 2025, Boesiger won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award and made the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for the fourth consecutive time. She was also selected to the Academic All-Big Ten.
