Lindsey Vonn Shares the Personal Message That Grounds Her Olympic Mindset

Lindsey Vonn opens up about the personal message that keeps her focused and grounded, shaping her mindset for Olympic success.

Lindsey Vonn is all set to represent Team USA for one last time at the Winter Olympics. The veteran alpine skier will be aiming to sign it off on a golden note at the upcoming Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.

Vonn has represented the USA in four Winter Olympics from 2002 to 2018. She retired in 2019 due to recurring knee injuries, only to return out of the blue in late 2024.

Lindsey Vonn Reveals Her Mantra For Success Ahead Of Milano Cortina Winter Olympics

In a reel shared by Team USA’s Instagram page ahead of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Vonn revealed her approach to the quadrennial event and how she keeps herself grounded with golden advice from her mother. The 41-year-old alpine skier mentioned,

“Hi, my name is Lindsey Vonn, and I’m on Team USA. My mantra for the Olympics is, ‘Today is another great day.’  When my mom was sick, she would wake up everyday and say, ‘Today is another great day.’ And I think it’s just an important reminder to believe in myself, life is short, always give your best.”

Vonn also shared the post on her Instagram story, with the following three-word caption for her mother, “For my mom.”

For the uninitiated, Vonn’s mother, Linda Krohn, had passed away in 2022 after a year-long battle with ALS. This affected the skier for a long time, until she decided to return to competition after a knee implant.

Lindsey Vonn returned to skiing in early 2025 and won her first podium finish at the FIS World Cup event in Sun Valley, Idaho, around March 2025. In December 2025, the 41-year-old skier won the FIS World Cup event at St. Moritz, Switzerland, becoming the oldest female skier to achieve so. Vonn followed up with another World Cup this year at Zauchensee in Austria.

The 41-year-old skier made her Winter Olympics debut at the 2002 edition in Salt Lake City. Vonn struggled to make a mark until the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze in the Super G. Vonn also won three consecutive FIS World Cup titles between 2008 and 2010, followed by another overall title in 2012.

The Milano Cortina Winter Olympics will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The quadrennial event will be held from February 6 to February 22.
