Lindsey Vonn shared her support for Swiss skier Justin Murisier after her revealed that he will not be taking part in the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 34-year-old, who is a three-time Olympian, admitted that his Olympic journey is probably coming to an end.
Murisier missed out on making the Switzerland roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The Valais native, who claimed his maiden World Cup win in December 2024, has been struggling for form this year.
Justin Murisier Gutted After Olympic Dream Ends – Lindsey Vonn Reacts
Murisier shared a post on Instagram to announce the end of his dream of competing at the Winter Olympics in Europe. He received messages of support from the skiing world.
“The dream of competing at an Olympic Games in Europe has unfortunately slipped away. I won’t be taking part in Milano–Cortina,” Murisier wrote on Instagram. “From Sochi to PyeongChang to Beijing, my Olympic journey is probably coming to an end here.”
Vonn also commented under the post with a crying emoji to share her support for her fellow skier.

Murisier made his FIS World Cup debut in 2010 at the age of 18. Since then, he has been a regular competitor on the circuit. His best overall finish in the World Cup standings came in 2025, when he placed 17th.
While Murisier was unable to qualify for the Winter Olympics, Vonn is all set to head to Milan and Cortina to represent Team USA. This will mark her final event in professional alpine ski racing, and she remains determined to retire on top of the sport.
“I want to show people that it’s not a disadvantage to be old,” Vonn said in an interview with People. “I love challenging people’s perspectives, and this is an amazing opportunity to do that. Also, my age is an advantage here.”
Vonn initially retired in 2019 due to injuries, but made a spectacular return to the sport in late 2024, aiming to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics. With that aim now realized, the 41-year-old is determined to add to her already glittering medal tally.

“I built an amazing life and was really happy in retirement. But I didn’t finish my career the way I wanted to. I was limping away when I wanted to finish strong.” she added.
Vonn will be joined on Team USA’s Winter Olympics roster by Mikaela Shiffrin, Paula Moltzan, Breezy Johnson, and Chloe Kim. The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina, Italy, from February 6 to 22.
