Lindsey Vonn Shares Crucial Update After Unfortunate Crash
Vonn’s knee injury just weeks before the Winter Olympics shocked most of the fans. However, the veteran skier has refused to give up on her Olympic dreams. The 41-year-old skier shared a reel of her performance on Instagram, and assured everyone that she will do everything it takes to get back on the track, though that means she will miss out on the upcoming Super-G race at the same venue for now.
Vonn wrote in the caption of her Instagram post,
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to race today… wishing all my teammates a great race. Thank you for all of the love and support I have received. Means the world to me. Doing my best right now….”
Vonn had officially qualified for her fifth Winter Olympics this year. She had made her Olympic debut at the age of 17 in the 2002 Winter Olympics held at Salt Lake City. Vonn initially struggled to make a mark until the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze medal in the Super-G category. Since then, the alpine skier never looked back.
Vonn won eight World Championship medals, including two gold medals, and four overall FIS World Cup titles [including three consecutive titles from 2008 to 2010]. The alpine skier had won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Championships before she announced her retirement due to recurring injuries.
However, the champion couldn’t remain off track for long, and she came out retirement to participate one more time. After a knee implant surgery, Vonn announced her comeback in late 2024, and clinched a podium finish in the FIS World Cup event at Sun Valley, Idaho, in March 2025. Vonn stunned everyone with her consistent podium finishes, and is currently leading the women’s downhill category in the 2025-26 FIS World Cup as well.
Vonn is aiming to make a strong comeback at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. It would be interesting if luck is on her side this time.
