Vonn has been defying expectations on the slopes since her comeback in the 2024-25 season. She had one last goal of making the Olympic team this year, and her stellar trajectory in the 2025-26 season, boasting two wins and other podiums, earned her a spot on the roster.
However, things didn’t go as smoothly as expected, as the 41-year-old crashed in the final World Cup downhill race in Crans-Montana before the Olympics rolled in. She lost control after a jump and slid into the safety net, injuring her left knee.
In an Instagram post, she posted an update about the same, stating that her journey hasn’t ended, and she awaits more information from the doctors as she eyes another comeback.
The Olympic gold medalist also thanked her supporters, as well as Marte Monsen, who also crashed at the same venue.
During the news break, several athletes, including Biles, Shiffrin, tennis star Coco Gauff, and track and field legend Felix, shared their wishes for the skier.
Biles sent her love, writing:
“Sending love babes”
Shiffrin trusted Vonn’s ability to bounce back, saying:
“If anyone can do this, it’s you”
Gauff wished the alpine skier a speedy recovery and wrote:
“Get well soon”
The legendary Felix, the most successful in track and field among both men and women, believed in Vonn’s abilities and sent her admiration for her, commenting:
“No matter what you have already won!!! Thanks for continuing to show us what’s possible. Sending prayers and love. You got this.”

Tennis luminary Billie Jean King, Delta, and the Olympics also joined forces to support the skier during this tough time.
