Harper Murray Breaks Silence on Social Media Fallout With Fellow Nebraska Volleyball Player Rebekah Allick

Nebraska volleyball found itself back in the headlines this week, but not because of anything that happened on the court. Rumors of tension between veterans Harper Murray and Rebekah Allick began circulating quickly online.

Things escalated when fans noticed Murray had unfollowed Allick on social media, fueling speculation of a fallout. Murray later stepped in to address the chatter herself, issuing a statement to put the rumors to rest.

Harper Murray Comes Clean On ‘Fallout’

According to unverified reports, a fallout emerged between the aforementioned players after the Huskers lost to the eventual champions, the Texas A&M Aggies, in the NCAA Championships quarterfinals. When it was claimed that Murray and a few other Nebraska players unfollowed Allick, a social media user attacked the outside hitter by commenting on her TikTok account:

“You’re so funny. By far my favorite girl. You unfollowed her so quick.”

A bewildered Murray responded to the claims as she replied:

“We / I didn’t unfollow anyone.”

While Murray might return for one last attempt next year, this was the final season for Allick as a collegiate player. She had joined the Nebraska team in the 2022 season.

Nebraska Volleyball’s Performance This Season Overall

The unexpected loss in the quarterfinals cannot determine the resilience that the Big Red team displayed for most of the season. Before the loss to the Aggies, head coach Dani Busboom Kelly was all set to repeat the historic streak of 2000, since the Huskers hadn’t lost a single match throughout the season. For the uninitiated, this was Busboom Kelly’s debut season as the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a team she had represented both as a player and an assistant coach.

25 years ago, when John Cook had just taken over the Huskers as the head coach, he did the unthinkable. The Big Red team won all their matches, including the final round of the NCAA Championships, and earned their 2nd NCAA title overall. To date, the Huskers are one of the few teams to have achieved this distinction.

However, despite the unfortunate loss to the Texas A&M Aggies, the Huskers continued to win the hearts of their fans. Irrespective of the results, Nebraska’s fans decided to attend the remaining matches, primarily to support the Aggies team, for which the head coach, Jamie Morrison, couldn’t thank them enough.
