Nebraska Volleyball’s incredible winning streak came to an end following a five-set thriller against Texas A&M on Sunday. Following the heartbreaking loss, fans applauded the Huskers’ outside hitter Harper Murray for her prowess as a leader.
The Cornhuskers went up against the Aggies during the quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships. However, they were upstaged by the No. 3-seeded Texas A&M 3-2 (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 35-37, 15-13).
How Did Fans React to Harper Murray’s Leadership After Nebraska Volleyball’s Loss?
During the match against the Aggies, Murray recorded four kills and a block, contributing to the team’s early points in the game. However, despite putting up a fight, the Huskers were no match for Texas A&M.
During a post-match media conference, Murray stepped in to console Rebekah Allick when the latter was too overwhelmed with emotions to speak. She also encouraged her team, noting that they did their best despite the results.
Fans online showered Murray and her teammates for the fight they put up, with one fan writing, “I’ll say this too: Harper Murray after the match, consoling her teammate, Rebekah Allick, and speaking when Allick could not get out the words in front of the cameras, was an awesome thing to see. Murray has been on the other side of that in more ways than one.”
Another fan quoted the tweet and replied, “100% agree with Mitch on this. I was very impressed with Harper Murray’s poise and maturity following Nebraska’s heart-breaking loss. Showed incredible leadership in a tough moment.”
“I thought the same. She showed so much maturity and spoke for her teammate with such kind words when it was so difficult,” one fan wrote.
“Harper is a bad*ss. What a great teammate,” another fan agreed.
One fan even looked forward to seeing Murray continue to lead in the future. “It’s going to be very cool to see Harper as a senior leader in 2026,” the fan wrote.
While Nebraska Volleyball has now been eliminated from the race to the National Championships title, Texas A&M will head to the semifinals to battle Pittsburgh in the Final Four on Thursday.

“My freshman year, I think we all lost sight of what we were able to do. We set an attendance record. We won the Big Ten. We made it to the national championship with four freshmen on the court. And that’s not easy, and I think my biggest message for this team is just stick to the people that we trust and our support system because we have so much to be proud of, and it’s so easy to forget that in moments like this,” Murray said.
She further thanked the fans for being a great support system and urged the Huskers to keep their heads up high, noting that they had still accomplished a lot this season, regardless of the results.
