Kaylia Nemour’s campaign at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships 2025 in Jakarta has been nothing short of a dream. The Algerian gymnast won the gold medal in the uneven bars apparatus and became the first African to do so. She registered a score of 15.566 in the bars finals to beat the likes of Angelina Melnikova and Yang Fanyuwei.
Nemour was also the runner-up in the balance beam apparatus, just behind Zhang Qingying, and narrowly missed the podium in the all-around event after finishing fourth. After this impressive campaign, the 18-year-old gymnast invested her time outside of the gymnastics mat to relax after a hectic competition in Jakarta.

After her successes, Nemour flew off to Bali to enjoy a break after achieving historic feats at the World Championships. She shared a few pictures from her time in Bali on her Instagram handle for her fans during this vacation.
In the post, the Algerian gymnast can be seen refreshing herself in the pool and also showcasing her jewelry. She stated in her caption: “Vacation mode activated 😏 The gym takes a break, Bali takes the lead 🌴 Always shining with APM Monaco ✨”

Nemour also came agonizingly close to an uneven bars gold medal in the 2023 Antwerp event. She came second in the finals with a score of 15.066, behind Qiu Qiyuan, who registered a score of 15.100.
What Did Nemour Say After Her Uneven Bars Performance in Jakarta?
With her World Championships gold medal in the uneven bars apparatus in Jakarta, Nemour has ticked off one of her career dreams and has made her country, Algeria, proud on the global stage. In an interview with Olympics.com, Nemour spoke about her mindset throughout the finals performance and said:
“I felt really good on the bars, with my connections. Thanks to my training, I now know how to handle any difficulties that might happen during a final. It wasn’t easy to go last in a world final, people were expecting a lot from me, and I’m really happy to have taken that step. It was my second dream after the Olympic Games, so I’m very happy.”
Nemour also tasted immense success at the Paris Olympics last year. She won the gold medal for uneven bars, beating China Qiyuan and the USA’s Suni Lee. The Algerian gymnast finished fifth in the all-around combined events.
