Nebraska volleyball player Allie Sczech recently got a major career boost when she was selected by the Omaha Supernovas in the 2025 Major League Volleyball Draft. Although she hasn’t appeared in many games for the Huskers after transferring for her final collegiate season, her standout performance this season came against Stanford on August 24, recording 12 kills with a .400 hitting percentage.
She will now begin her professional career with the Nebraska-based Omaha Supernovas in the upcoming season. This news has generated excited responses from her current teammates, including Harper Murray and Andi Jackson.
How Did Nebraska Volleyball Stars Harper Murray and Andi Jackson Celebrate Allie Sczech’s Draft to Supernovas?
Both Harper Murray and Andi Jackson couldn’t hide their excitement after learning that Allie Sczech had been drafted by the Omaha Supernovas. The team, which won the inaugural Major League Volleyball title, also features former Nebraska coach John Cook as its general manager.
The news was shared on Nebraska Volleyball’s official Instagram page, where both juniors reacted in the comments. Murray expressed her joy, writing, “I’m so happy for you allieeee!!!!❤️❤️❤️,” while Jackson added a simple, enthusiastic, “YEAH AL.”

Sczech has made a name for herself on the court, earning All-Big 12 Second Team honors twice in 2022 and 2024. She also grabbed the Big 12 Rookie of the Week award back in September 2022 while playing for Baylor. After three seasons with the Bears, Sczech decided to take on a new challenge, transferring to Nebraska for her final season.

Sczech Reflects on Staying Committed to Nebraska’s Program After John Cook’s Departure
While some wondered whether Nebraska Volleyball commits might reconsider their decisions after John Cook, who led the program for 25 seasons, announced his retirement, Allie Sczech remained fully committed.
When asked why she chose to stay during an August interview with Hurrdat Sports, she explained that she values the legacy Cook built at Nebraska and already had a strong relationship with new head coach Dani Busboom Kelly from her earlier recruiting process.
Sczech said the coaching transition felt more like a positive opportunity than a moment of uncertainty, stating, “Committing to Nebraska, you obviously do commit to Cook and his legacy and all the great things he’s done, but you also commit to the players and the school and the culture and all those things, which I really enjoyed too.”
The coaching change didn’t shake her commitment as she believed Nebraska was still the right fit, and the Cook-to-Kelly transition felt like a surprising blessing.
