‘Never Won a Damn Thing’ – NFL Analyst Shreds Odell Beckham Jr. Amid Giants Reunion Rumors

NFL analyst Adam Schein blasts the rumored return of Odell Beckham Jr. to the New York Giants, calling the idea "insane" and his famous catch "overrated."

One of the more surprising stories around the New York Giants this offseason is the prospect of Odell Beckham Jr. signing with John Harbaugh’s squad. The franchise is trying to build itself into a playoff contender with a young roster, featuring second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart, and a veteran presence certainly sounds plausible. However, not everyone is on board with it.

NFL Analyst Adam Schein Fires Off on Giants Potentially Signing Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham’s career quickly went downhill back when he initially left the Giants in 2019. He kept up his usual standards for one year at the Cleveland Browns, after which he never recorded another 1,000-yard season.

Seven years later, the possibility of finishing his career in the city where he became famous surfaced again, as a healthy relationship with Harbaugh opened the door to a return. Although the receiver’s biggest fans were quick to jump on the bandwagon, some are still skeptical.

Mad Dog Radio” host Schein fired off on OBJ, bashing his famous catch and the idea of him joining the Giants.

“I think this is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard,” he said. “Odell Beckham Jr. back at the Giants? This is insane. A couple of things: No. 1, Odell Beckham Jr., who never won a damn thing with the Giants, has this really bizarre stranglehold on Giants fans.”

The wideout reportedly felt betrayed when former Giants general manager Dave Gettleman traded him to the Browns in 2019 (76.6 PFSN WR Impact). At that point, Cleveland had a total of only 11 wins across the previous four years.

Nonetheless, Schein is also unimpressed by the receiver’s superstar catch from his rookie season in 2014.

“The Odell catch is the most overrated play in the history of the NFL,” he added. “It was in a loss, by the way. There were 10 catches this season in the NFL that were better than Odell Beckham Jr…. In the last two years, he’s played nine games. He was suspended last year. They signed [Darnell Mooney] and Calvin Austin. Unless [OBJ] is coming back for older timers day, I don’t want to hear Odell Beckham Jr. at the Giants.”

A desire to finish his career with the Giants for sentimental reasons makes a lot of sense. Beckham hasn’t been very productive on an NFL field in at least two years. Injuries and poor performance saw the veteran fall by the wayside soon after his Super Bowl win with the LA Rams in 2022.
