Things may have gone from bad to worse for a Houston Texans team that has had a rough start to the 2025 season. Going 0-3 to begin the year, they found some stability with back-to-back blowout victories before the bye week. However, their offensive struggles once again came out in full force when they took on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 7.
The situation, unfortunately, became significantly worse for them in the fourth quarter. While being unable to consistently move the ball on the ground, the passing offense remained a victim of a porous offensive line. To make matters more complicated, it seemed like their superstar wide receiver Nico Collins may have suffered an injury.
What Happened to Nico Collins?
A true three-level threat in the open field, Collins has been the best target for Stroud in his career, and one of the biggest reasons for the success Houston has had over the last two seasons.
But, as he tried to will a comeback from down 27-12, a hard tackle out of bounds to begin the fourth quarter wasn’t the way for it. Immediately checked out of the game, all signs pointed to a likely concussion that kept him out for the rest of the drive.

As he remained on the sideline, the sight became a heartbreaking one for Texans fans, as he was taken back to the locker room with some support and with a towel over his head. Soon after, the official account of the Texans confirmed on X that he was downgraded to out with a concussion.
On the season, Collins was already up to 312 receiving yards and three touchdowns in five games, despite the struggles of the offense as a whole. As a result, he ranked 22nd on PFSN’s WR Impact.
In this game, though, he had a quiet night, recording four receptions for 27 yards before the injury. Without his presence, Houston could not muster a comeback, eventually falling 27-19.
What Does Collins’ Injury Mean for Fantasy?
With Christian Kirk already out, C.J. Stroud will be in a very challenging spot if Collins can’t return. The Texans are looking at a receiving corps of rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, plus rotational receiver Xavier Hutchinson.
A concussion would likely knock Collins out for no more than one game. But it is possible he misses more. If he ends up getting ruled out, both rookies would be speculative waiver wire adds, as the Texans would have no choice but to play them more in Week 8.
