‘We’ve Got Unfinished Business To Handle’ – Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni Sends Message to His Team Immediately After NFC Title Win

Eagles HC Nick Sirianni quickly reminded his players that they still have one more game to win after the team clinched its Super Bowl spot.

Head coach Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles have to feel good about themselves after cruising past the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game by a final score of 55-23.

However, as the Eagles know all too well, making the Super Bowl isn’t the same as winning it. For the second time in three years, they’ll do battle with the Kansas City Chiefs in the big game, and Philadelphia is undoubtedly hoping to avenge their heartbreaking 38-35 loss from Super Bowl 57.

Immediately after the team’s triumphant victory over the Commanders — and before the team knew its opponent would be the Chiefs — Sirianni took hold of the locker room to tell his players that their job wasn’t done.

“Guys, awesome job. We keened in on everything we talked about: toughness, mental toughness, physical toughness, detail… way to take care of it, way to come after it, way to be relentless with it. That’s going to be the key next week, too. I promise you that,” the head coach began.

“And then, together, right? It took everybody [to win this game], and really, that’s what it’s been like the whole time. Awesome job defense, awesome job offense, way to make plays special teams, it was awesome,” Sirianni continued as he paced around the locker room.

“Not a whole lot more to say. We got some unfinished business to handle. We’re gonna enjoy this. This is special. We did a lot of special s*** like we talked about. But, [there is] one more step, right? One more step.”

The Eagles, winners of five straight dating back to Dec. 29, will have their hands full with the Chiefs, who are making their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance and fifth in the last six years.

The Chiefs are the kings of the AFC once again, following their 32-29 defeat of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.

The Eagles have come as close as anyone not named Tom Brady to knocking off Kansas City during its dynastic run, but they’re going to have to defy the odds to beat a team with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. In their combined careers, the legendary quarterback-tight end combo has gone 17-3 in the postseason.

Still, Kansas City will have a tough task on its hands. Against a game-breaker like running back Saquon Barkley and a defense that ranked second in the league, according to PFN’s Defense+ metric, it’s going to be a tall order for the Chiefs to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat.

Sirianni and the Eagles will square off with Mahomes and the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
