WATCH: Brady and Matthew Tkachuk Bring Mom Chantal to Tears With Touching Mother’s Day Messages

On Mother’s Day, NHL stars Brady and Matthew Tkachuk delivered heartfelt video messages to their mom, Chantal Tkachuk, in a feature shared by the NHL’s official Instagram account. The moment, caught on camera, left Chantal visibly emotional.

Brady and Matthew Tkachuk’s Emotional Tribute to Mom

Both brothers expressed their love and appreciation for all their mom has done. Matthew, alternate captain of the Florida Panthers, kept it short but heartfelt, saying, “Mom, happy Mother’s Day. I love you.” His younger brother Brady, captain of the Ottawa Senators, added, “Every day should be Mother’s Day with everything that you do for our family.”

As the video played, Chantal’s eyes filled with tears, and she smiled, saying, “Wow! I’m a… lucky mom.” It was a rare glimpse into the bond between the Tkachuk brothers and their mother, built on years of love, sacrifice, and support.

The tribute showcased how close Matthew and Brady are with their mom and highlighted the strong family ties at the heart of the Tkachuk household. With three children — Matthew, Brady, and Taryn — the family’s life has long revolved around sports. While Matthew and Brady play in the NHL, their sister Taryn plays field hockey at the University of Virginia.

Chantal and her husband, Keith, a former NHL player, have fully embraced their role as a hockey family. Their home even features three TVs in one room so they can keep up with all their kids’ games at once. Chantal called it a “sports booth,” explaining, “That was by design, because they often play at the exact same time.”

Keith’s rule? The sibling playing better gets the big screen. But as Chantal noted, the emotional ups and downs usually lead to one watching in a different room before the game ends.

Growing up, Matthew and Brady were fiercely competitive and often clashed physically.

“It would usually end up in a tussle at some point,” Chantal said, via People.com. “But then five minutes later, they’d be back playing together.”

That fiery spirit carried into their professional careers, where both are known for their gritty, aggressive style. Chantal wasn’t shocked when the brothers triggered three fights in quick succession during a heated Canada vs. U.S. showdown. That was just another Tkachuk moment.

Even as their NHL paths diverge, the family stays connected. Chantal and Keith attend as many games as possible. They were there for every game of Brady’s first playoff run and now plan to support Matthew as the Panthers advance to the next round.

Chantal takes the most pride in how her sons support each other beyond the rink. Despite being fierce competitors during games, their bond remains strong.

“Once the game’s over, they just go back to being brothers,” she said.

The Tkachuk legacy isn’t just about goals, fights, or NHL accolades. It’s about family. As Chantal said, “They just want the best for one another.”
