‘None Of Your Business’ — Maple Leafs Forward Bites Back at Questions Around TOR’s Teething Issues

The Toronto Maple Leafs are navigating a turbulent period since losing control of their season following a rare eight-game losing skid after the Winter Olympics. The sharp decline led to the firing of GM Brad Treliving, with the situation raising doubts over the direction of the franchise. With captain Auston Matthews sidelined by a torn MCL, the team faces mounting scrutiny over persistent on-ice struggles.

Amid these teething issues, a veteran forward recently shut down outside questioning to protect the locker room’s privacy.

Max Domi Responds Strongly As Maple Leafs Face Scrutiny Over Internal Issues

Max Domi addressed the ongoing noise around the Toronto Maple Leafs as the team deals with a difficult stretch in the 2025–26 season. Toronto holds a 32-30-13 record and sits 7th in the Atlantic Division, which puts them on the edge of playoff elimination after 9 consecutive years of playoff appearances.

Their defensive problems and an initially weak power play, paired with constant injuries to top players, made it hard for them to gain ground. Now, they have found three wins in their last four games, but that could hardly change their current situation.

Their difficult circumstance and fan pressure prompted a change at the management level, with Brad Treliving being let go on Monday. Following that move, Brandon Pridham and Ryan Hardy have been assigned the work to guide the front office on an interim basis.

Amid all the chaos, Domi gave a strong answer when asked about culture and internal concerns. Speaking to a reporter, he said, “We’re not going to get into what went wrong with you guys, and, quite frankly, it’s none of your business. It’s our group’s business, and we’ll keep it that [way]. We know what we got to do better and we will.”

If you think about it, Toronto was already ready to change directions, as evident in its trade deadline moves, choosing to collect future assets instead of pushing for a late run this season.

Injuries have also played a major role in affecting the lineup, especially with Auston Matthews placed on injured reserve due to a torn MCL. Other core players like William Nylander have also missed time, which has forced adjustments across the roster. These changes came during their first season without Mitch Marner, making it harder for the group to find stability.

Toronto now heads into the final stretch of the regular season with games against the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings before returning home. With limited room to move in the standings, the focus remains on finishing the season with improved play, even as questions around the team continue to grow.
