‘CARDIAC SENS BABY’ – Senators Fans Elated After Extending Season With 4-3 OT Win

The Ottawa Senators managed to stave off elimination from the Stanley Cup Playoffs, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs by a 4-3 final score in overtime in Game 4 of their opening-round series, the first “Battle of Ontario” since 2004.

Defenseman Jake Sanderson beat goaltender Anthony Stolarz on a floating shot from the point that he didn’t pick up until it was already past him into the net, guaranteeing that the Senators would live to fight another day.

Senators Fans Shout Out Loud for Their Squad After 4-3 OT Win

Following the victory, Senators fans were understandably jubilant that their season had been extended.

One exuberant fan exclaimed, “YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS WERE STILL IN THIS S*** BABYYYYYYYYYYY.”

Another fan poked fun at the Leafs, exclaiming, “THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD SWEEP US.”

Another Sens fan shouted, “THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT. SENS IN 7.”

This fan referenced Toronto’s Round 1 struggles, saying, “Just 3 to go, and I mean, it’s the Leafs… they’re not supposed to pass the first round.”

Yet another fan said, “Killing a 4-minute power play screams 3-0 comeback to me.”

Speaking of mocking the Leafs, this fan exclaimed, “THEY’VE BLOWN A 3-2 AND A 3-1 SERIES LEAD. 3-0 IS ALL THAT’S LEFT. CHOKERS FOREVER. SENS IN 7.”

Finally, this fan exclaimed, “That was a fantastic Sens game! Our fan base absolutely deserved that win. The Sens Army was out in full force tonight, and their unwavering support until the final buzzer clearly made a difference. So great to see!”

Senators Coach Travis Green Vowed Ottawa Will Continue To Fight

While the Senators face a daunting challenge, it isn’t without precedent. Winning four consecutive games to close out a series after trailing 3-0 has been done on four occasions in NHL history, most recently by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2010 and the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.

Despite the grim odds of pulling off a miracle comeback, Senators coach Travis Green vowed the club would continue to fight.

“Anyone who thinks this is going to be easy, it’s not,” said Green. “It’s going to be hard. Could we be sitting here in a different position? Yeah, we could be. Our guys know that, but they’re not going to go away.”

“You know what, go win another game and see what happens.”

Two of Ottawa’s previous losses to the Maple Leafs happened in overtime, meaning they were only a shot away from winning those games themselves. Regardless, it will be an entertaining Game 5 on Tuesday night back in Toronto.
