NHL Insider Highlights Key Stat That Favors Hurricanes To Win Stanley Cup

The stage is set for a dramatic Stanley Cup Final clash between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes.

After a huge 4-2 win in Game 5, Carolina now holds a 3-2 lead in the series and is just one victory away from winning the Stanley Cup. Meanwhile, Vegas is facing elimination and must win its next two games to keep its championship hopes alive.

As the series heads back to Vegas for Game 6, one NHL insider believes the numbers strongly favor the Hurricanes.

Crucial Stat Backs Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup Chances

NHL insider Jason Gregor pointed out a remarkable statistic.

“Vegas needs to beat Carolina two games in a row to win the Stanley Cup. Carolina hasn’t lost two games in a row since January 12th and 13th, in Detroit and St. Louis. In their 100 regular season/playoff games, Carolina has lost two in a row only five times,” Gregor said.

That statistic highlights just how steady the Hurricanes have been throughout the season. No matter the situation, Carolina has consistently found ways to bounce back and avoid extended losing streaks.

Now holding a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup Final, the Hurricanes are just one victory away from winning the championship. The Golden Knights, meanwhile, have no margin for error and must win both Game 6 and Game 7 to keep their title hopes alive.

Carolina’s success this season has been driven by a strong defensive system and disciplined team play.

The Hurricanes finished first in the Eastern Conference with 113 points during the regular season. They carried that momentum into the playoffs, sweeping the Ottawa Senators in the opening round before earning another four-game sweep over the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round.

The Montreal Canadiens proved to be Carolina’s toughest challenge in the Eastern Conference Final. Montreal won Game 1 by a 6-2 score. But the Hurricanes responded by winning the next four games. Carolina outscored Montreal 13-3 over the final three games to secure a 4-1 series victory and advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

The championship series against the Vegas Golden Knights has been tightly contested. Vegas opened the Final with a 5-4 victory in Game 1, but Carolina answered with a 4-3 win in Game 2.

The Golden Knights regained the series lead with another 5-4 victory in Game 3. Facing the possibility of falling behind 3-1, Carolina delivered a crucial 5-3 road win in Game 4 to tie the series again. Back home in Raleigh for Game 5, the Hurricanes put together one of their strongest performances of the Final, defeating Vegas 4-2 to take a 3-2 series lead.
