‘I Don’t Want a Lawsuit’ — Flyers’ Cam York Worried About Overzealous Stunt After Eliminating Sidney Crosby’s Penguins

The Philadelphia Flyers advanced past the first round by closing out a tight series with a decisive win. Their structure stayed intact in a low-scoring game that required patience and clean execution in important moments. Pittsburgh pressed late but could not find the finish needed to extend its season.

As Flyers one-upped the Penguins in this postseason Battle of Pennsylvania, Philly blueliner Cam York went a little overboard in the the celebrations after eliminating the rival Pens.

Flyers D-Man Cam York’s OT Winner Secures Series, But His Stick Throw Takes the Spotlight

York delivered the goal that ended the series, scoring late in overtime to secure a 1-0 win and eliminate Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins. His shot came through traffic from the point and beat a screened goaltender, a play built on awareness and timing as he recognized space and released the puck at the right moment.

The Flyers relied heavily on defensive structure and goaltending throughout the night. Dan Vladar stood out with a shutout performance, turning aside every shot he faced while handling sustained pressure, especially in the later stages. On the other side, Artūrs Šilovs also held his ground, but the single overtime chance proved to be the difference.

While the goal secured the win, York’s immediate celebration became a talking point. He threw his stick into the crowd in excitement, a move that quickly drew his own concern in the aftermath. Speaking to reporter Charlie O’Connor, York said, “I just hope everybody’s okay. I don’t want a lawsuit.”

The Flyers’ social media account also acknowledged the moment in a lighter tone, posting, “Real quick…Has anyone seen Cam York’s stick?”

Pittsburgh entered the game with momentum after extending the series with two straight wins. However, their inability to convert chances in Game 6 led to the ‘unfortunate’ result, as Sidney Crosby called it.

He remained central to their push but was held off the scoresheet in the final game. The Penguins created opportunities but could not solve Vladar, which ended their attempt to recover from an early 3-0 deficit in the series.

York managed his defensive responsibilities well and limited second-chance opportunities, which played a role in maintaining the scoreline. His overall game reflected composure in a high-pressure situation, even as the focus turned to his goal and subsequent celebration.

Philadelphia now advances to face the Carolina Hurricanes in the next round, carrying momentum from a hard-fought series.
