The Edmonton Oilers are charging into the postseason once again after closing their schedule with a dominant home win. At the center of it all, Connor McDavid once again led the attack, finishing another elite regular season with control and consistency.
After their final regular-season game, McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, shared her reaction publicly, celebrating his latest milestone while the captain prepares for the next stage.

McDavid finished the regular season in style, recording four assists in a 6-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks while helping Matt Savoie secure his first NHL hat trick in the opening period. The performance sealed Edmonton’s second-place finish in the Pacific Division and locked in home-ice advantage for the first round against the Anaheim Ducks.
After the game, McDavid emphasized the importance of the result and the tone it set heading into the playoffs.
“It was an important one. We wanted to start here at home and give ourselves the best chance in the first round. The start was great,” he said.
He also pointed to the growing chemistry on his line, adding, “(Me and Savoie are) building something a little bit, playing together for a little while now. We’re starting to understand each other a little bit. (Zach Hyman) came in and did exactly what he does, forechecks hard and fills that net-front spot, which frees up a lot of space for us.”
McDavid’s night also confirmed his place atop the scoring race, as he secured the Art Ross Trophy with 138 points. It marked his sixth career scoring title, putting him alongside Mario Lemieux and Gordie Howe for the second-most in NHL history, trailing only Wayne Gretzky’s tally of 10.
Away from the rink, the celebration took on a more personal feel. His wife, Lauren Kyle, shared moments from Rogers Place on Thursday through Instagram stories. One post captured the arena’s jumbotron displaying the final score as players saluted fans, paired with the caption, “Off to the playoffs!!”
She also posted a graphic highlighting McDavid’s sixth Art Ross Trophy, adding a short but clear message: “So proud of you.” Another shared image placed him alongside Gretzky, Howe, and Lemieux, showing the iconic company he now finds himself in.

On the ice, Edmonton’s performance backed up the optimism. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Colton Dach (with a Gordie How hat trick) contributed offensively, while Zach Hyman’s return added stability to the top line. The team showed cleaner puck movement and better finishing, areas that had been inconsistent in earlier games.
The Oilers now prepare for a first-round matchup against Anaheim starting April 20. With McDavid leading the league in scoring and the team coming off a convincing win, expectations are clear. The captain will continue to control games, but the supporting cast’s form may decide how far the run goes.
As the playoffs begin, this combination places Edmonton in a strong position to finally complete its Stanley Cup dream.
