‘No Words, Unfathomable’ — Brady Tkachuk Wins No Fans as Ottawa Senators Get Booed In Their Own House in Game 3 Loss to Carolina

The Ottawa Senators’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread (a really, really thin one) after their third consecutive defeat at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes at the Canadian Tire Center. After a scintillating Game 2, the Senators had one chance to turn things in their favor. However, as things stand, Ottawa’s odds have never looked more bleak.

Captain Brady Tkachuk, who has so far been unsuccessful in orchestrating a comeback for the Senators, was on the receiving end of sufficient backlash in yet another uneventful outing.

Social Media Blasts Brady Tkachuk As Playoffs Slip Out of Hand

Last season, the Senators made the playoffs after a drought, but the team failed to make it past the first round against a relentless Toronto Maple Leafs, who won the series 4-2. This season, the Sens have battled valiantly, especially since February.

Tkachuk was sidelined for a significant period at the beginning of the season, and goalie Linus Ullmark faced significant troubles on and off the ice. Still, the Senators managed to secure a playoff berth against all odds.

They were supposed to pick up where they left off in the last postseason, but after three successive defeats, a resurgence is nowhere in sight. Three games into the first round, the team is still exactly where it was last year: staring at a seemingly insurmountable 3-0 deficit.

Amid such dire circumstances, Tkachuk has attracted the ire of the Senators community for his underwhelming leadership and purported lack of impact.

“Brady Tkachuk has looked checked out for 90% of this season. Shown nothing in the playoffs; actually cost them with awful penalties. Body language has been off since returning from injury. Zero ‘we’ll be back’ moments like last season,” Everyday Sens shared on X. Tkachuk has zero points in the playoffs so far, but has spent 11 minutes in the penalty box across three games.

“Brady Tkachuk didn’t go more than 2 consecutive games without a point during the regular season. He’s now a period away from going the first 3 games of the playoffs without a goal or assist,” Michael Traikos stated on X, pointing out the unusual scoring drought that Tkachuk is suffering from.

So exasperated are Senators fans with how the playoffs have turned out that many present at the Canadian Tire Centre did the unimaginable: booing their team’s power play.

Before the playoffs commenced, the Senators were expected to capitalize on one of the Hurricanes’ most noticeable shortcomings: goaltending. However, Ottawa’s utter failure to score has further embittered the fanbase.

Yet another social media user bluntly stated that Matthew Tkachuk is undoubtedly the better of the two brothers. “Matthew Tkachuk is like three times better player than Brady. Man, almost every time I watch Ottawa, Brady does a lot of pointless things… The difference between them is huge, in my opinion, which most fans don’t realize.”

Matthew Tkachuk, of course, is a proven playoff performer who was instrumental in the Florida Panthers’ back-to-back Stanley Cup wins.

Sens HC Travis Green called Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle merely “average” through these playoff games, but now it has become increasingly clear that there is no way that an average performance can cut it against the Canes. Ottawa has one last game to prove itself or it is bound to meet the same fate as the 2024-25 season.
