Brad Marchand’s Wife Gets Emotional Looking Back on Panthers Star’s Journey to 2025 Stanley Cup Final Win After Trade From Bruins

Katrina Marchand, the wife of Florida Panthers' Brad Marchand, confessed her emotional state of mind following a historic Stanley Cup win.

Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito pulled off a masterclass of a deal with the Boston Bruins on March 7, the date of the 2025 NHL trade deadline, acquiring their captain, Brad Marchand.

Marchand had played his entire NHL career with the Bruins up until that point, winning the Stanley Cup with them as a rookie in the 2010-11 season and eventually succeeding Patrice Bergeron as team captain in 2023.

But with no contract extension being feasibly worked out, the Bruins cut their losses and sent him to the Panthers, the reigning Stanley Cup champions. Months later, the Panthers repeated their historic feat, dealing yet another defeat to the Edmonton Oilers.

Brad Marchand’s Journey From the Bruins Trade to Panthers’ Cup Win

Marchand began making an immediate impact on the Panthers in the postseason, helping them to an opening-round series win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, which was followed by a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Marchand scored the overtime game-winning goal in Game 3 against the Leafs in the conference semifinals, helping to spark what would ultimately be a successful comeback in the series after going down 2-0.

Marchand’s performance culminated with six goals in the Stanley Cup Final against the Oilers, and his name will soon be engraved on the chalice again.

Marchand’s wife, Katrina, who was in attendance for the game and had remained behind in Boston following the trade, expressed her emotions following the historic victory that they now get to celebrate as a family.

“Just recognition, we did it,” she said. “I’m going to get emotional. Just telling us as a family, we did it. It’s worth it. We did it.”

“Everything,” she said when asked what the Cup victory meant to the winger and the rest of the Marchand family. “Absolutely everything. He works his butt off every single day and to see it come to this after what he’s been through, not seeing everything play out the way we thought it would [in Boston], this means the world.”

Marchand will have a key decision to make in the next several weeks, as he has the chance to become an unrestricted free agent. Because of the salary cap, the Panthers may not realistically be able to re-sign Marchand for his market value.

But for now, Marchand is going to soak it all up and enjoy every minute of it.

“Everything has to line up perfectly,” he said. “My situation is a perfect example of that. I shouldn’t have been here. But it worked out — and I’m enjoying the hell out of it.”
