Jack Eichel has spent the past year strengthening his reputation as one of the NHL’s premier two-way centers. He helped lead the Vegas Golden Knights deep into another Stanley Cup chase while securing his place as the face of the franchise.
However, the spotlight has now shifted away from his on-ice accomplishments after a former NHL player publicly targeted both Eichel and his father over an alleged off-ice misunderstanding.
Billy Tibbetts Rips Jack Eichel and His Father Over Camp Dispute
Former NHL forward Billy Tibbetts directed an angry social media rant at Golden Knights star Eichel and his father, Bob Eichel, claiming the pair failed to follow through on plans involving Tibbetts’ youth hockey camp in Cranston, Rhode Island.
In an Instagram video, Tibbetts repeatedly criticized both Jack and Bob Eichel with profanity and personal insults while expressing frustration over what he believed was a broken commitment.
“Bob Eichel, Jack Eichel’s dad. What a [expletive] loser this guy is. You’re a [expletive] loser, Bob Eichel. Jimmy Johnson, whatever your [expletive] name is on Instagram. You’re a [expletive] loser.
“‘Yeah, I’ll come by. I’ll bring Jack and this and that.’ And then I give you all this time. I don’t press you. I don’t press you, Jack Eichel. Well, Jack Eichel, your dad’s a [expletive]. Jack Eichel, your dad’s a [expletive] [expletive].
“And so are you, Jack Eichel. You’re a [expletive] geek. The ugliest kid in the NHL, and you stink. You stink. You stink. Play with all the best players in the world, you can’t get it done, [expletive] scumbag, Jack Eichel, Bob Eichel. Go [expletive] yourself. I don’t want you to come to my camp. I don’t [expletive] need you,” Tibbetts said.
The former NHL forward’s comments quickly attracted attention because of both the language and the target. Rather than limiting his criticism to the alleged no-show, Tibbetts expanded his remarks into a personal attack on Eichel and his father.
Neither Eichel nor his representatives has publicly responded to the video, and the Golden Knights have not issued a statement.
The controversy arrives at a time when Eichel remains one of the league’s marquee players.
The Golden Knights recently committed to him with an eight-year, $108 million extension, making him the highest-paid player in franchise history. He is coming off another elite campaign after producing 90 points in 74 regular-season games and leading Vegas to the 2026 Stanley Cup Final.
Tibbetts, meanwhile, remains one of hockey’s most controversial former players. He appeared in 82 NHL games between 2000 and 2003 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, and New York Rangers.
His career was overshadowed by legal troubles, including one in 1994 at the age of 17 and ongoing issues since 2007 in a harassment case.

Today, Tibbetts operates the Billy Tibbetts Pro Camp, a skills development program based in Rhode Island. His latest social media post has once again placed him in the headlines, although the claims surrounding the alleged camp appearance promise remain unverified by Eichel or the Golden Knights.
Until either side comments publicly, the dispute remains a one-sided account that has unfolded primarily through Tibbetts’ online remarks.
