The Florida Panthers wowed the hockey world by winning back-to-back Stanley Cups following the 2023-2024 season and the 2024-2025 season. However, now they are several games back from being in contention, and the trade rumors are swirling.
Could the Panthers be looking to move one of their biggest names in an effort to ensure they get a return on their investment? One NHL insider thinks so.
Florida Panthers Trade Rumors Grow as NHL Trade Deadline Draws Near
Florida has decided to listen to offers for several pending unrestricted free agents, and Sergei Bobrovsky is the most notable name on that list. The veteran goaltender is in the final season of a seven-year, $70 million contract that carries a $10 million cap hit.
With the team sitting outside the playoff picture, management appears open to exploring trade options rather than risking losing him in free agency without return.

TSN insider Pierre LeBrun reported the update on X, writing, “The Panthers lost again last night and my understanding is they’ve made the decision to be sellers as far as listening on pending UFAs, which most notably include the likes of AJ. Greer and Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky has a 16-team no-trade list. Doesn’t mean he will be dealt for sure, just means Florida is listening.”
This no-trade list gives Bobrovsky some control over where he could go, which makes a potential deal more complex.

The Oilers have been connected to the goaltender in trade discussions because of their situation in net. This is the same goalie who has denied them the Stanley Cup twice.
Earlier this season, Edmonton traded for Tristan Jarry and has Connor Ingram, too, but both have struggled with save percentages below .900. That situation has fueled outside talk about adding help in net, and it is one reason Bobrovsky’s name keeps coming up in deadline discussions.
Bobrovsky’s playoff history, including back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2024 and 2025, could make him an appealing short-term option for a team with championship expectations.
On the ice, Bobrovsky’s numbers this season have not matched his recent playoff performances. He is 22-19-1 with a .873 save percentage and a 3.13 goals-against average.

In his most recent outing, he made 28 saves in a 5-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils and allowed 3 goals. Over his last two games, he has given up eight goals, and he is 1-2-0 in three starts since the break.
For now, though, the Panthers are listening, and with the deadline set for Friday at 3 p.m. ET, it will be interesting to see whether a major move develops.
