NFL World Reacts to Xavier Worthy’s Combine Record 40 Time

Tyreek Hill, Patrick Mahomes, and others were among the notable reactions to Xavier Worthy’s record-breaking 40 time at the NFL Combine.

Xavier Worthy walked into Indianapolis with the chatter of being one of the fastest wide receiver prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

He’s now in the NFL Combine record books following his much-discussed epic 40-yard dash time on Saturday.

What Texas WR Xavier Worthy Accomplished With Record-Breaking 40-Yard Dash

Using the long strides that turned him into one of the most explosive wide receiver options for the Texas Longhorns, Worthy blazed his 40 in 4.21 seconds.

Here’s what it means for Worthy: He’s now in the Combine record books.

That also means that a seven-year record has fallen.

Back in 2017, John Ross accelerated to 4.22 during his Indianapolis workout in front of scouts, general managers, and head coaches. At the time, the Washington Huskies standout held the record for the fastest 40-yard dash run.

Now, Worthy has joined Ross as the fastest men ever to set foot in the Combine arena. Only Worthy was a second faster, as proven below.

And the native of Fresno, California, had many reacting to his 40 time, including one of the league’s fastest players right now.

Tyreek Hill Reactos to Worthy’s 40 Time

Miami Dolphins star wide receiver and Super Bowl winner Tyreek Hill was among the notable online reactions for Worthy.

Hill, via X (formerly known as Twitter), posted, “4.2 is crazy sheesh.”

It was fitting that one of the league’s fastest players would have a reaction to Worthy’s record-tying day. But there were other notable names who couldn’t help but sound off about Worthy’s speed. One of them was another NFL wideout known for his speed: DeSean Jackson.

“Young fella Xavier Worthy got rollers,” Jackson posted on his X account. “4.22 sheeeeeeeesh.”

NFL analysts also chimed in to react to the record falling. Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network sent out his congratulations.

“Congrats on a new record!!!” the former NFL offensive lineman posted on X. “Can’t coach this kind of speed.”

Even Las Vegas Raiders safeties coach Gerald Alexander, who could be dealing with Worthy’s speed either in practice or in a live game in 2024, shared his thoughts about Worthy’s speed ahead of the season.

Elsewhere, Patrick Mahomes and Derwin James shared their reactions to Worthy running his 40.

Finally, the man who coached Worthy’s speed, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian, reacted to his former wideout’s record-breaking day. The Longhorns head coach simply posted how his electric wideout was “all gas” on the field while including a gas pump and the “Hook ‘Em” sign in his tweet.
