Jordyn Tyson was one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, but the talented wide receiver had some injury red flags that pushed him down a lot of draft boards during the process. The New Orleans Saints were the team that believed in Tyson, taking him with the eighth overall pick and proving their confidence in the Arizona State wide receiver’s talent.
Tyson has impressed early in training camp, but unfortunately, suffered an injury on Thursday that is making some wonder if the injury concerns he faced coming out of college are already being realized.
Jordyn Tyson Leaves Practice Early After Suffering a Hamstring Injury
Tyson left practice early on Thursday with a hamstring injury. While the early belief is that the injury is minor, it is not an encouraging sign for a player whose biggest concern entering the NFL was his health.
The 22-year-old missed time during the 2025 collegiate season due to a hamstring injury and even skipped the NFL Scouting Combine to take time to further recover from the injury.
“Jordyn Tyson has been having a very strong camp,” said NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe. “Unfortunate. Hamstring injuries slowed him in predraft process too.”

It’s still early in training camp, with the Saints’ season still being exactly one month away, and the injury is expected to be minor. Still, the fear of it lingering, along with his history of injuries, does raise questions. Seeing the talented wide receiver already injured has many fans and analysts around the NFL nervous about Tyson.

“This sucks,” said Michael F. Florio, a fantasy football analyst for NFL Network and NFL.com. “Hope he’s ok, but it’s not ideal given his track record of injuries (hamstring hampered his 2025 season). Tyson has all the talent in the world, health is the big concern with him.”
Onyx Odds posted a viral video of Jon Bernthal in “The Punisher” yelling “no, no, no,” with a caption saying, “Saints fans and Tyson dynasty owners.”

“This sucks,” added Sigmund Bloom. “Tyson needs to do what Christian Watson and MarShawn Lloyd did and have some studies done to see why he can’t stay healthy.”

During his collegiate career, Tyson not only had a hamstring injury but also dealt with other injuries, including a fractured collarbone and a season-ending knee injury. In the 2025 season, he played only nine games, recording 61 receptions for 711 yards and 8 touchdowns.
According to PFN’s CFB WR Impact Metric, Tyson posted an impact score of 81.2 in 2025, ranking 24th at his position.

If Tyson were to miss time, that would open up more passing volume in the offense to Chris Olave, Juwan Johnson, Travis Etienne Jr., and Alvin Kamara. Tyson and Olave are expected to be one of the top wide receiver duos in the NFL and integral pieces in Kellen Moore’s fast-paced offense.
Second-year quarterback Tyler Shough is hoping to build off of a promising second half of his rookie campaign, and the additions of Tyson and Etienne could be integral to seeing him take the next step.
Tyson will be a name to watch as the season inches closer. His health figures to be a game-changer for Shough, the Saints, and fantasy football managers.
