The Dallas Cowboys are never a team that lacks confidence. That starts at the top with team owner Jerry Jones, but it’s clear that franchise quarterback Dak Prescott maintains that confident mindset, too.
The former fourth-round pick has far exceeded expectations, but now he’s setting new goals for the 2026 season, and they’re quite lofty. In short, the NFL world doesn’t believe the Cowboys’ QB can cash the checks that his mouth is writing.
NFL World Is Laughing at Dak Prescott’s Goals
Recently, Prescott mentioned that he wants the Cowboys’ offensive unit to be the “Greatest Offense There Is (GOTI).” The team ranked second in yards and seventh in points scored last season, so can they be even better? Prescott certainly thinks so.
Yet, others chiming in on social media aren’t buying it.
One X user didn’t want to hear it, saying, “Talk is incredibly cheap at this point. We hear about big goals and elite offenses every single summer, but it always ends the exact same way in January. Show us the results in the playoffs, then we can talk about GOTI.”

Another account suggested that Prescott has been hyped in the same way for the past seven seasons. The account said, “This exact article has been written the last 7 years about dak.”

One account suggested Prescott was living in a video game world, basically saying he could only accomplish those goals if the Cowboys QB was playing Madden.
“Then you turn off Madden,” the person noted on X.

One user went as far as to say Prescott “carries goals every year. And fails at them.”
Another user seemed to be growing tired of boastful claims and would prefer Prescott stay quiet and “prove it on the field.”
The user on X wrote, “Same [expletive] every year. Just give the generic ‘working everyday’ answer and prove it on the field.”

One account noted the Cowboys’ recent lack of playoff success. Their last playoff win came at the end of the 2022 NFL season, when they won a Wild Card game in Jan. of 2023.
He questioned whether Prescott’s big goal for the upcoming season is “to win a playoff game? It’s been a while.”

One account said that no one should group the phrases “big goals” and “Dallas Cowboys” in the same sentence.
While the Cowboys clearly have big goals heading into a new season, so do the other 31 teams they’re competing with. As some have pointed out, now it’s time to go prove it on the gridiron.
