‘How Is This Okay? Unbelievable’ — NFL Podcaster Calls Out ESPN’s Adam Schefter After Underdog Investment Gets Revealed

NFL podcaster brings to light that Adam Schefter was an original investor in Underdog Fantasy. Is it ethical for Schefter to be involved with the platform?

Sports gambling has become a large revenue builder and has staked its place in the sports world. However, there have been multiple times when players, coaches, or officials involved in games have been caught wagering on those same games as well.

That’s led many to wonder: where does it cross the line? How can sports betting continue to evolve while maintaining the integrity of the sport or of the betting itself?

NFL Podcaster Takes Issue With Adam Schefter’s Underdog Investment

The sports gambling industry has grown exponentially over the last decade, and nowadays you can’t make it through a single commercial break without seeing an advertisement for a sportsbook.

While gambling is legal and fine for fans to partake in, it’s stretched to people who are involved in the games, finding loopholes to get involved in the action and make some extra money.

That’s where things go south.

There have been point-shaving scandals, and the most recent NBA investigation involved players sitting out games after playing for a few minutes because of money placed on their player props.

Then, there was Brendan Sorsby, who had a gambling addiction and was betting on his own team while playing college football.

But recently, an NFL podcaster called out ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban for being original investors in Underdog Fantasy.

“I’ve been pounding the table pointing out how wrong it is for Adam Schefter to own a piece of Boom Entertainment,” NFL podcaster Tony Farmer wrote on X. “Just learned he was ALSO an original investor in Underdog! Along with Mark Cuban.

“Was I the only one unaware? How is this okay? Unbelievable.”

Farmer continued by explaining why he has a problem with the two sports figures being investors in the fantasy site.

“Insane to see an NBA owner and NFL Insider on this list,” he wrote. “Big conflict of interest, how is this ok? Schefter’s reports move lines, and he’s invested in multiple sports betting apps (boom entertainment the other). sick”

Does Farmer have a point? When does the line get drawn between who can be involved in the sports gambling world and who can’t?

However, Schefter is an investor, and that doesn’t mean he is actively betting through the app or site. But does that make a difference?

Sports betting is only continuing to grow, and it will keep raising more questions on how to regulate it and what is and is not allowed.
