The NFL trade deadline is right around the corner, and several teams are expected to be active in both selling and acquiring talent. One team that could be a seller is the New York Giants, who sit at 2-7 through the first nine weeks of the season.
While the Giants likely won’t make any drastic moves, a former first-round pick is reportedly on the block, and the Las Vegas Raiders are rumored to be one of the teams interested in him.

Which Former Giants First-Round Pick Are the Raiders Interested In?
In the 2022 NFL Draft, the Giants used the No. 7 overall pick on Evan Neal. Calling Neal’s tenure in New York a disaster would be an understatement. In three and a half seasons with the Giants, he’s started just 27 games and hasn’t played a snap in 2025.
In his seven starts in 2024, Neal ranked 96th among all NFL offensive linemen and 33rd among tackles, according to PFSN’s player OLi metric.
As the trade deadline approaches on November 4, the Giants are rumored to be considering moving Neal, which makes sense given that he’s not making any contribution to the offense this season.
It may seem surprising that any team would be interested in Neal, given his struggles so far in the league. However, the Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly exploring a move for him.
According to NFL insider Josina Anderson, the Raiders contacted the Giants about two weeks ago to discuss a potential trade. While nothing has happened yet, Anderson believes the situation is worth monitoring as the trade deadline approaches.
One team the #Giants had exploratory trade talks on regarding G Evan Neal was the #Raiders. This occurred about one and a half, to two weeks ago, per league source. Evidently, it didn’t lead to urgent action, at said time. Nonetheless, it’s insight on who’s been inquiring…. pic.twitter.com/FgAxqi6XGF

“One team the Giants had exploratory trade talks on regarding G Evan Neal was the Raiders,” Anderson wrote on X. “This occurred about one and a half, to two weeks ago, per league source. Evidently, it didn’t lead to urgent action, at said time. Nonetheless, it’s insight on who’s been inquiring…”
Neal hasn’t yet proven himself as a capable starter at tackle in the NFL, but he was drafted highly for a reason, and a change of scenery could help him turn his career around. The Raiders are in desperate need of help along the offensive line, with their unit ranking 26th in the NFL this season, according to PFSN’s team OLi metric.
Neal likely wouldn’t be a game-changer for Las Vegas, but he could be an upgrade over the team’s current right tackle, DJ Glaze, who ranks 136th among NFL offensive linemen and 53rd among tackles this season in PFSN’s player OLi metric.
As Anderson points out, a move isn’t imminent, but with Neal riding the Giants’ bench and the Raiders in need of an offensive line upgrade, this would be a deal that makes sense for both sides.
