We are three weeks into the NFL season, and only six teams remain undefeated. Among the rest, some teams may already be looking for reinforcements, and some others should consider cleaning house and trying again next year. Here is the list of the top 10 trade candidates in the NFL, and what teams could benefit from their services.
10) Raheem Mostert, Las Vegas Raiders
Having yet to see the field for the 1-2 Raiders, it is interesting to see what the Raiders do with Raheem Mostert. He has proven himself in this league, and while he was never a threat to Ashton Jeanty’s starting role, it was expected that he would get some work or even dress for game day.
This is especially odd, considering the Raiders have the third-fewest rushing yards in the NFL and have only one touchdown on the ground. I could even see them trading him away and acquiring another backup that they trust more, because while Jeanty has a bright future, every team needs depth.
Potential suitors: Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants
9) Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns
Last year, we saw what Jerome Ford could do backing up Nick Chubb, and with 5.4 yards per carry, I am pretty confident that Ford can still ball. However, it is a new season, and with Quinshon Judkins cleared and on the field, Ford caught four passes but didn’t carry the ball once.
Getting a return on an asset that is falling out of favor is just good business, and the Browns could use some of that right now. The defense looks legit, and if they could play like they did in the fourth quarter against Green Bay last week, they could make some noise in a wide-open AFC North.
Potential suitors: New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals
8) Mazi Smith, Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys seem perennially stuck in a cycle of retooling and then holding onto assets too long, and it may be time to change that. With Kenny Clark arriving in the Micah Parsons trade, Mazi Smith’s slow start, and the new coaching regime, it could make it easy for Dallas to move on from its 2023 first-rounder. He is a big body interior lineman, and with two years left on his rookie contract, there should be at least a few teams willing to take a chance on him.
Potential suitors: Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos
7) Jameis Winston, New York Giants
With the news of Jaxson Dart starting for the Giants in Week 4, the services of Jameis Winston as the backup prior to Dart being an option are a thing of the past. We all know ‘Famous Jameis’ can still play, and there are teams that could use a veteran in the locker room to either start or back up their current quarterback. Look for Winston to continue going with the flow and to provide the team with some stability if the Giants feel like a move is the way to go.
Potential suitors: Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans
6) Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers
In Carolina, it is clearly the Tet McMillan show at wideout, and a promising rookie has become an afterthought in the Panthers’ offense. I believe there is still some upside left in the tank, and with some coaching, he could still become a very good player in this league.
Look for the Panthers to strongly consider moving on from Legette by cutting their losses and investing the pick in their offensive line or defense. Interestingly enough, I do think some rebuilding teams may even take a look at him to see if he can go with a young quarterback or a top pick next year.
Potential suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars
5) Jaelan Phillips, Miami Dolphins
I am among those who did not see this coming from the Miami Dolphins, and if they don’t see this season going to a playoff appearance, they have shown a willingness to pack it in and really commit to a tank. If that is the case, a guy like Phillips is someone teams will call about and could potentially get into a bidding war over. He has recorded 23 sacks in 49 career games, and if he is healthy for the stretch run, he can be a difference-maker that brings a team over the hump.
Potential suitors: Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
4) Anthony Richardson, Indianapolis Colts
Here is where things get interesting: who had Daniel Jones in MVP discussions for the 2025-26 season on their bingo card? I definitely did not, but good for him, he found a home, won the job, and is balling. But did anyone think that maybe Jones just looked this good in practice, and maybe Anthony Richardson still has some good football left in him?
Richardson showed flashes that he can be good in this league, and I really think with the right coaching/mentorship, and the humbling of earning a job, a trade could be the best thing for Richardson. He actually led the entire NFL in yards per completion last year, so if he can take less risks with the ball and learn more about how to break down an NFL defense, he could find a home.
Potential suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Los Angeles Rams
3) Breece Hall, New York Jets
When a coach has a bell-cow type of back like Hall and wants to utilize all of the team’s options, that tells me the team is looking for one of the backup options to play their way into a role without the pressure of the workload. It also tells me that Hall now knows that he won’t be the focal point of the run game, so it makes a reunion in free agency less likely.
Of course, trading Hall would be a tough pill to swallow for the Jets, but with a number of teams desperate to get their running game right, they could get a really nice return for a guy they were going to lose at the end of the year anyway.
Potential suitors: Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears
2) Cameron Jordan, New Orleans Saints
With the Saints fully committed to this rebuild, and off to a 0-3 start, there is no better fit for a player like Cameron Jordan than mutual love and respect for the commitment the player and team have made to each other.
For Jordan, there are other suitors, but he only came on this list with one team in mind for me, and that is the San Francisco 49ers. Nick Bosa is out for the season with a torn ACL, and to have a veteran like Jordan, who has won a Super Bowl before, come in, not only keeps hopes alive, but can help lead the team with the fire of something to play for as the season closes out, which hasn’t been true in a few seasons.
Potential suitors: San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts
1) Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins
Tyreek Hill, one of the most electrifying players in the whole league, is in an offense that is totally out of sync and is not getting him the ball in the open for him to do what he does best. If the Dolphins decide to take calls on Hill, there will be a plethora of teams lining up for his services, and this trade could be essential for an offense to take the next step to becoming Super Bowl-ready. He is that good.
Seeing him return to Kansas City would be interesting, but, in my opinion, there are a few better options for him to achieve the target share he wants and receive the return on investment of both the capital invested in him and his salary.
Potential suitors: Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs
