Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix totaled 38 pass attempts in Week 14. The opportunity parlayed into an 81.6% completion percentage, 212 scoreless yards, and no interceptions. In fact, Nix has totaled 35-plus pass attempts in four of his past five games. And through 14 weeks, he’s No. 3 in the league in pass attempts as well. That said, it was odd that Nix posted an 81.6% completion percentage clip with no touchdowns. Broncos head coach Sean Payton explained.
Sean Payton on Balancing Finding Rhythm With Explosive Plays on Offense
He said, “I think this. Number one, we probably called seven shot plays in that game, and they’re doing a pretty good job staying on top in their zone. Typically when you play a [Raiders Head Coach] Pete Carroll team, it’s going to require a lot of throws that come underneath the coverage. So the game went a certain way, and I told you after the game and then again today, I really liked how the game unfolded.”
In Week 14, Nix’s longest pass went for 15 yards to wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey. In addition, the former completed passes of 14, 13, and 12 yards. Every other completion was nine yards or less. So, in other words, Nix dinked and dunked in Week 14 vs. the Las Vegas Raiders. That is why it was an odd passing day. 31 completions totaled just 212 yards and zero touchdowns. That said, Nix totaled three rushes for 15 yards and a touchdown as well.
He is now No. 13 in PFSN’s QB Rankings, with a 77.4 QBi Grade. That’s up two spots from Week 13. “Say what you want about Bo Nix’s role in the Denver Broncos’ winning ways, but one thing’s for certain: he sure isn’t holding them back. He threw for 212 yards with an absurd 81.6% completion percentage,” PFSN’s Jacob Infante wrote.
The Broncos’ offense, meanwhile, is No. 13 in PFSN’s Offense Impact Score, while the Green Bay Packers, the Broncos’ opponent in Week 15, is No. 12 in PFSN’s Defense Impact Score. Elsewhere for the Broncos, though, general manager George Paton deserves credit for Denver’s turnaround. He was hired in 2021, coming off an 11-loss season, and now the Broncos have 21 wins in the past 30 games.
