NFL Rumors: Analyst Predicts AFC Franchise Could Part Ways With $106.5M All-Pro Before Trade Deadline

Raiders star Maxx Crosby's name emerges as one of the most likely players to be traded ahead of the 2026 NFL Trade Deadline.

Maxx Crosby has been one of the premier edge rushers since entering the NFL in 2019 as a fourth-round pick. The Las Vegas Raiders’ edge rusher has only played with one team in his NFL career, but made tons of noise before free agency when he was acquired in a trade by the Baltimore Ravens, before failing his physical.

Since then, Crosby and the Raiders appear to have mended their relationship, but while he is set to start the season as a Raider, some are not convinced that he will be with Las Vegas at the end of the 2026 NFL season.

Maxx Crosby Predicted to be Traded Ahead of NFL Trade Deadline

Although the two sides seem to have made peace, Crosby is in the middle of his prime, and the Raiders’ timeline may not match his. Combine the potential of him not matching their timeline, his large contract, and the lingering possibility of a reemergence of the issues that surfaced in the relationship last season, and it’s easy to see why many believe he could still be moved.

“The relationship between Crosby and the Raiders reportedly deteriorated late last season because of the team’s handling of his knee injury, and one wonders just how much Las Vegas was able to rebuild their chemistry in the months since it attempted to move him,” said CBS Sports NFL analyst Carter Bahns. “If he still commands anything close to two first-round picks in return, the Raiders seem likely to jump at the opportunity to load up on more draft capital in the early stages of their rebuild.”

Crosby ranked as the No. 5 edge rusher in PFN’s EDGE Impact Metric (EDGEi) in 2025, registering 73 tackles (45 solo, 28 assists), 28 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits, 10 sacks, six pass deflections, and two forced fumbles.

He is entering his age-29 season and is not slowing down, making the Pro Bowl in each of the past five seasons. The former Eastern Michigan star signed a three-year contract extension worth $106.5 million, with $91.5 million guaranteed. He has a $35.8 million cap hit in 2026 and is under contract through the 2029 season.

Baltimore’s trade offer of two first-round picks was a huge win for the Raiders but caused much frustration among the fanbase when they backed out of the deal over medical concerns. The Ravens ultimately signed Trey Hendrickson to a lucrative contract in free agency, without having to part with any draft capital to acquire him.

While the relationship with Baltimore may not be what it was prior to the trade, other teams could still express interest in Crosby’s services if he were to be made available again.

The Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and New England Patriots are among the teams that could express interest in Crosby if he were to reemerge in trade talks, and other teams could become interested as well, as injuries could create a need for contending teams at the position.

It’s unclear if the Raiders could get anything close to what they were slated to receive in the trade with Baltimore if they make Crosby available once again, but they would certainly have interested parties.

For now, Crosby and Las Vegas are looking to turn things around in 2026 under new head coach Klint Kubiak and quarterbacks Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza, aiming to return to the postseason. He will be a name to watch throughout training camp and the early portion of the NFL season
