NFL Rumors: Broncos ‘Interested’ in Adding $24.5M Pro Bowler Ahead of Bo Nix’s Return From Injury

Who should the Broncos add to reinforce their roster? Find out more about the veteran who can shred defenses on the ground and through the air.

We’ve crossed the June 1 checkpoint on the NFL calendar, which opens the door to bigger trades, and the Denver Broncos could give quarterback Bo Nix a new weapon. Nix’s injury led to Denver losing in the AFC Championship Game last season, and adding a proven offensive piece should benefit them on the comeback trail.

Broncos Could Add RB Alvin Kamara To Help QB Bo Nix

After storming through the regular season and hanging a 14-3 record on the door to the postseason, the Broncos came apart when Jarrett Stidham had to fill in for an injured Nix in the AFC Championship. The 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots fueled Broncos Country to return ever stronger in 2026.

They added former Miami Dolphins wideout Jaylen Waddle to a receiving corps that already features Courtland Sutton, tight end Evan Engram, and Troy Franklin. They also have loaded offensive and defensive lines to dominate both sides of the ball. However, NFL insider Albert Breer feels like Denver can do more to further bolster its offense.

Enter five-time Pro Bowler Alvin Kamara, who is in the final year of his two-year, $24.5 extension that he signed in 2024.

“I believe Alvin Kamara wants to finish his career in New Orleans, as he’s said publicly,” Breer noted. “Also, I believe there’s a team out in Denver that would be interested if that’s not in the cards.”

Kamara is a veteran with nine years of mileage on his legs. He’ll be 31 when the season kicks off, having more years behind him than in front, especially good years. However, with an abundance of playoff experience and a handful of seasons left in the tank, he’d fit perfectly into the Broncos’ offense.

Head coach Sean Payton is a big fan of versatile running backs who can catch passes out of the backfield or even line up on the line of scrimmage. Payton and Kamara also go back to when the coach still ran the show in New Orleans, and they drafted the running back in the third round.

Kamara spent the first five years of his career getting to know Payton’s schemes intimately, which further supports an argument for his move to the Rockies.

The Broncos have some questions to answer in their backfield, as J.K. Dobbins has been plagued by injuries and second-year rusher R.J. Harvey still has some developing to do. Dobbins recorded a 57.6 PFSN RB Impact score in 2025, while Harvey scored 48.7.

While the team has a deep receiving corps, backfield help would go a long way, and adding Kamara should be the perfect final touch to a solid lineup.
