Chase Daniel Casts Blame in Jerry Jones vs. Micah Parsons Cowboys Saga

Daniel, 38, played in the NFL for well over a decade as a backup quarterback for numerous teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Los Angeles Chargers.

After his playing career, he got into the media space, including a role with Dianna Russini of “The Athletic” on the “Scoop City” podcast.

Russini broke some massive news: Parsons’ relationship with the Cowboys has taken a bad turn.

“BREAKING: The Micah Parsons-Cowboys relationship has deteriorated to the point where the star pass rusher is considering drastic measures, which could include a trade request or even a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team, per multiple league sources familiar with the situation.”

“The two sides remain far apart heading into the second week of training camp, and are not currently negotiating,” Russini wrote on X.

Daniel replied to this report on X, writing, “Jerry Jones is clearly responsible for all this.”

There’s been a lot of controversy surrounding this offseason ordeal.

Former Cowboys first-team All-Pro legend and wide receiver Dez Bryant has encouraged Jones and the team to pay Parsons, as noted by PFSN’s Cameron Sheath.

Parsons is still waiting to be paid after Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett and Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt were also given massive extensions of $40 million-plus per season.

“We’re just working with what it is,” Jones told reporters on July 21, as noted by Russini. “It’s not uncommon for me, and not anything there’s a lot of angst over. He’s doing a real good job of being here. And that’s important. … We are where we are. And I sign the check. Period.”

The Cowboys have seemingly made it a habit of pushing players to the brink before ultimately signing extensions. Since 2019, running back Ezekiel Elliott, guard Zack Martin, and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb have all held out. They were all reminiscent of this situation, meaning massive drama until the player was signed late in the summer.

For context, Elliott signed his deal on Sept. 4, 2019; Martin signed his deal on Aug. 14, 2023; and Lamb signed on Aug. 26, 2024.

Thus, history has shown that Parsons could sign by late August/early September, assuming he doesn’t request a trade or make a “declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team,” as Russini said.

We’ll see what happens as this saga seemingly reaches a boiling point. As for now, Parsons’ brother has confirmed on social media that there is not much to worry about the Cowboys star’s situation.
