Micah Parsons’ prolonged wait for a new contract continues, with the Dallas Cowboys seemingly happy to drag things out for as long as possible. Parsons has been attending training camp and has never threatened a “real” holdout, but recently sent a clear warning to the team via social media.
Fans and analysts heard the player’s message loud and clear, prompting one former Cowboys legend to pressure the team further to pay up.

Several contract disputes have occurred this offseason, but Parsons’ decision not to hold out from team activities has seen his situation receive less media attention than others. Stars like Trey Hendrickson and Terry McLaurin have also missed valuable practices this summer.
Parsons may be practicing, but that doesn’t mean he’s happy waiting on the whims of team owner Jerry Jones. The four-time Pro Bowler shared a picture of himself with teammate Trevon Diggs, accompanied by a GIF from the movie Bad Boys for Life that read, “One last time.”

The player then retweeted another post, this time a fellow Dallas defensive player — Juanyeh Thomas — announcing his profile picture change to a photo of Parsons. Notably, Diggs also changed his avatar to Parsons — a sign of unity for the EDGE in search of his new contract.
Parsons is out of contract after the 2025 season, something that gives him considerable leverage in negotiations, and something he is clearly willing to flex. The two-time first-team All-Pro is a foundational piece of the Cowboys’ defense and one of the very best players in the league at his position.
The post was met with increased anxiety from Cowboys fans, who are understandably worried about losing one of their best players. One high-profile fan, in particular, had a blunt message for the organization, whose approach to contract talks has long been perplexing.
Dez Bryant, a former first-team All-Pro for the Cowboys, shared Parsons’ post with the caption, “Jerry & Stephen pay the man.”
Bryant enjoyed eight years in Dallas, after the team drafted him 24th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, 11 years before it drafted Parsons, 12 picks earlier. Bryant ranks fifth all-time in career receiving yards for the Cowboys (7,459) and holds the franchise record for career receiving touchdowns (73).

Parsons has a long way to go if he is to break any franchise records in Dallas, but his 52.5 sacks in just four years put him in good standing to challenge later in his career.
To do that, though, the ferocious pass rusher will need a new contract — one that could potentially break some records in itself.
EDGE TJ Watt leads all edge rushers in average annual earnings after his recent record-breaking extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt’s deal works out at $41 million per year, a number that Parsons will undoubtedly have his eyes on.
