NFL Games Today: Is There a Football Game on Sunday? Complete List of Key Dates in Offseason

Here is all you need to know about whether there is an NFL game today and the details around the important offseason dates, including the draft.

The 2025 NFL season concluded with Seattle’s 29-13 Super Bowl 60 victory over New England on Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium, where Kenneth Walker III rushed for 135 yards and won the Super Bowl MVP. As a result, there are no NFL games today, and fans will have to wait till September for the next season.

However, the NFL calendar stays packed through the offseason. Free agency and the draft will reshape rosters across the league.

Important Offseason Dates: From Free Agency to Training Camp

Teams can begin designating franchise or transition tags on Feb. 17. The deadline to apply either tag is March 3 at 4 p.m. ET. Expect Dallas to franchise George Pickens and several contenders to lock down edge rushers before negotiations open.

The NFL Scouting Combine runs Feb. 23 through March 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. More than 300 prospects will work out, interview, and undergo medical evaluations while teams gather the data that shapes their draft boards.

Free agency negotiations open March 9. Teams can contact agents of unrestricted free agents through March 11, though no contracts can be signed until the new league year begins March 11 at 4 p.m. ET. Trey Hendrickson, Breece Hall, and Odafe Oweh headline a class that could reshape defenses across the league.

The NFL Draft takes place April 23-25 in Pittsburgh. Las Vegas holds the top pick and will likely select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, but the rest of the first round remains fluid with at least six teams hunting for a starting quarterback.

July 15 marks the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term extensions. After that date, they’re locked into one-year deals. Training camps open in mid to late July, with rookies reporting up to seven days before veterans. The 2026 regular season kicks off Sept. 10.

2025 Season Recap: Awards and Championship Games

Seattle beat Los Angeles 31-27 in the NFC Championship Game behind another stellar defensive effort. The Rams’ Matthew Stafford threw for over 300 yards, but the Seahawks’ pass rush harassed him into critical mistakes. Sam Darnold completed the redemption story that began in Minnesota, leading Seattle to its second Super Bowl appearance in three years.

New England edged Denver 10-7 in a snowy AFC Championship Game that turned on Jarrett Stidham’s fumble. The Patriots’ defense suffocated the Broncos’ offense, which was without Bo Nix, who broke his ankle in the Divisional Round. Drake Maye orchestrated three scoring drives in brutal conditions, guiding Mike Vrabel’s squad to the franchise’s 12th Super Bowl.

Unfortunately, Super Bowl 60 wasn’t close. The Seahawks’ “Dark Side” defense smothered Maye with six sacks and three turnovers to capture the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy.

Seattle led 12-0 after three quarters before AJ Barner’s 16-yard touchdown grab stretched the advantage to 19-0. Uchenna Nwosu’s 44-yard interception return sealed the rout. The Seahawks held Maye to under 220 passing yards and forced three turnovers in a defensive clinic.

The 2025 awards went to the following players:

  • MVP: Matthew Stafford (Rams)
  • Offensive Player of the Year: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seahawks)
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Myles Garrett (Browns)
  • Offensive Rookie of the Year: Tetairoa McMillan (Panthers)
  • Defensive Rookie of the Year: Carson Schwesinger (Browns)
  • Coach of the Year: Mike Vrabel (Patriots)
  • Comeback Player of the Year: Christian McCaffrey (49ers)
  • Assistant Coach of the Year: Josh McDaniels (Patriots)

Stafford won MVP in the closest vote since 2003, edging Maye by five points. He led the league with 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns while throwing just eight interceptions. Smith-Njigba’s 1,793 receiving yards set a Seahawks franchise record and led the NFL despite playing in Seattle’s run-heavy offense.

Vrabel took home Coach of the Year after engineering a 14-3 turnaround from back-to-back four-win seasons. The Patriots won their first division title since 2019 and secured the AFC’s No. 2 seed. Garrett broke the single-season sack record while anchoring Cleveland’s defense, which was ranked sixth in the league according to PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric.
