The 2026 NFL preseason wraps up tonight as two games close out Week 3 and the entire exhibition slate before rosters get trimmed and the regular season takes over.
Anthony Richardson is set to start for Indianapolis against Detroit, while Chicago and Tennessee meet in the finale with both teams still sorting out answers at quarterback and along the offensive line.
After that, it is nothing but silence until roster cuts and, eventually, kickoff Week 1.

Week 3 spans three days and 16 total games, from Thursday, August 27, through tonight’s finale on Saturday, August 29.
Saturday, August 29
Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts, 1 p.m. ET (NFL Network)
Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans, 6 p.m. ET (NFL Network)
Eight games across the week aired nationally on CBS, Prime Video, and NFL Network, with every other matchup available through local team affiliates. Out-of-market and mobile streaming runs through NFL+ for the entire slate.
Tonight’s finale carries real stakes for a handful of players still fighting for roster spots.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed most healthy starters will see roughly eight to 12 snaps against Detroit, though quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Jonathan Taylor will sit out entirely as Indianapolis protects Jones’ recovery from last December’s torn Achilles.

That leaves Richardson to start and play the first quarter before Riley Leonard takes over, continuing a backup competition that remains unresolved.
In Detroit, the picture is just as unsettled. Dan Campbell’s Lions signed veteran Josh Dobbs the day after Teddy Bridgewater’s sudden retirement in early August, and Dobbs has split reps all preseason with undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer.
Altmyer completed 9 of 13 passes for 86 yards, while Dobbs bounced back from a rocky start last week to finish 7-of-12 for 74 yards in a win over Washington. Neither has fully separated from the other, with final roster cuts due Sunday.

Chicago enters tonight with a four-way competition at left tackle between Braxton Jones, Jedrick Wills, Theo Benedet, and Kiran Amegadjie, while Tennessee’s offense has struggled to find rhythm through the first two weeks of preseason play.
Elsewhere around the league, Cleveland already resolved its own quarterback question earlier in the week, naming Deshaun Watson its Week 1 starter, leaving Atlanta as the last team still searching for clarity before Sunday’s cutdown deadline.
The regular season kicks off Wednesday, September 9, when the Patriots visit the Seattle Seahawks in a Super Bowl LX rematch on NBC and Peacock.
