In one of their worst team performances of the season, things went from bad to worse for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf. The 27-year-old has been held under 50 receiving yards for five straight games, and now his pockets are a bit less full after the team’s 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
NFL Fines Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf Nearly $15K For A “Violent Gesture”
Metcalf finished the Bills game with just three receptions for 32 yards, but ultimately wound up leaving Pittsburgh with $14,491 missing from his bank account.
The first-year Steelers player spent his entire first year with the Seattle Seahawks before joining his new team for the 2025 season.
Things haven’t exactly gone according to plan, and now he’s losing money for a violent gesture that had no impact on the game’s outcome.
This isn’t the first fine for a “violent gesture” this season, and it certainly won’t be the last. The NFL at this point is trying to eliminate taunting as fans keep trying to get the nickname “No Fun League” to stick.
Cam Heyward was fined $11,593 for taunting during the Bills game.

With moments like this, it comes as no surprise. Metcalf was getting into it with the Bills all game long, and that ultimately cost him.

The Steelers fell to 6-6 with a few huge divisional matchups remaining down the stretch. Metcalf knows that his best option for success is with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, although the NFL’s oldest active player has been banged up, and it shows.
Rodgers is currently graded D+ according to PFSN’s QB Impact Metric, which is far from where he’s been in his career.
The four-time NFL MVP hasn’t been able to get on the same page with this receiving core. He recently invited them over to his house for his birthday, an unusual birthday present, to say the least. With just five games remaining, the Steelers’ playoff hopes lie on Rodgers and Metcalf’s shoulders. If those two can get back on the same page, the Steelers offense should have no problem putting up points.
Pittsburgh heads to Baltimore to play the red-hot Ravens, who have won five of their last six. They looked horrendous on Thanksgiving, to say the least, something that bodes well for a Steelers team that just picked up veteran WR Adam Thielen. It’s not like the longtime Vikings receiver is going to make an immediate impact, but this team needs all they can get as the season comes to a close.
