Louisville QB Tyler Shough’s NFL Combine Rep Goes Viral for All the Wrong Reasons Ahead of 2025 Draft

Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough has been rising on some draft boards. PFSN’s most recent seven-round mock draft has him going 83rd overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, a video of one of his reps at the NFL Scouting Combine has gone viral.

It’s not a good look, and people have … thoughts.

Tyler Shough’s NFL Combine Rep Sparks Reactions

NFL online commentator Dov Kleinmen posted a clip of Shough showing off his moves at the combine and said, “Yikes: Louisville Cardinals QB prospect Tyler Shough has gone viral for having one of the worst combine reps you will ever see…”

Folks in the online world have a variety of reactions to this clip, with some thinking it’s not that big of a deal, saying, “I think he is trying to mimic avoiding a defender while throwing. It’s really not that bad.”

Meanwhile, others compared him to Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite using a GIF.

Another user said the general take is out of context: “This is one rep lol sucks that accounts like this highlight a stupid trending thing like this. Most likely this is taken out of context.”

Regardless of the rep, Shough is going through the annual feeding frenzy of NFL Draft evaluations. In a league that has prioritized identifying young quarterbacks they can have on cheap contracts for the first few years, any and all prospects are scouted, interviewed, and looked over dozens of times.

Right now, PFSN has him rated as the fifth-best quarterback in the draft. However, Shough doesn’t see himself that way, He compares himself to Matthew Stafford and Josh Allen.

It’s pretty bold for a 25-year-old quarterback who spent six years with three schools and didn’t become the full-time starter until last year, his lone season with Louisville. However, it’s not unheard of for quarterbacks to need time to develop and mature.

Bo Nix was 24 years old and coming off his last of five college seasons when he entered the 2024 draft. He had 45 touchdowns and 4,508 yards with Oregon before landing with Sean Payton in Denver. Playing under one of the best offensive coaches in the NFL, he posted 3,775 passing yards and 29 touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

It’s not unrealistic to think that Shough could develop into a decent starter if he lands in the right place with the right coach. Another factor is Shough’s injury history; 2024 was his first full season as a starter.

Shough may not project as an early-round pick in any mock drafts, but that doesn’t dampen his confidence in himself. He thinks that he can step in and start for almost any team because of his experience and adaptability.

It’s a bold stance and one he may have a chance to prove come next season.
