Sam Darnold is balling out on Sunday Night Football with one of the best first halves in football history. The Seahawks are demolishing the Commanders on primetime, and Darnold is a huge reason why. He had to find a new home over the offseason after balling out with the Vikings, and Seattle will be grateful that Darnold is theirs. NFL fans took to social media to express their thoughts on Darnold’s lights-out first half.
NFL Fans React to Sam Darnold’s SNF Performance
Darnold completed all 16 of his passes in the first half for 282 passing yards and four touchdowns. He had a perfect passer rating and was absolutely unreal. The offense was humming, and the protection was great. Fans were ready to shower him with praise.

The fan isn’t wrong. Darnold was cooking the Commanders’ defense. They had no answer for him in the first half as he tore Washington apart. One fan even compared him to the legendary Tom Brady.

There wasn’t just one fan thinking of the Brady and Darnold comparison. There were many.
“Sam Darnold looking like Tom Brady out there,” said one fan.
“Commanders are a disaster this season, while Sam Darnold Leads looks like peak Tom Brady,” added another fan.
Another fan echoed a similar sentiment by questioning where this first-half performance ranks all-time.

Others were less willing to question it and instead were ready to stamp Darnold’s performance as one of the best halves of football by a QB ever.
“Sam Darnold just had one of the greatest halves of QB play we’ve ever seen,” said the fan.
The Seahawks are throwing all over the Commanders’ secondary. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is getting open at ease, Tory Horton has two touchdowns, and even Cody White got his first NFL touchdown. Darnold was on fire and was spreading the love to all of his offensive weapons.

Fans aren’t ready to stop their agendas for Darnold. While some might be a little overzealous, fans are making sure that Darnold gets his flowers.

Allen and Darnold will have picked up big wins after great individual performances from the two of them in Week 9. Comparing them might be a stretch, but Darnold has been one of the best QBs in the NFL with Allen in 2025. Allen wasn’t the only current quarterback compared to Darnold by fans.
“Sam Darnold is who people think Herbert is,” said one fan. Heading into Week 9, Darnold was ranked 11th among quarterbacks based on PFSN’s QB Impact metric.
Herbert added a win in Week 9 as well. Allen, Herbert, and Darnold all have their teams in great positions to do some damage in the postseason. The Seahawks are going to move to 6-2 to keep pace in the NFC West race and will look ahead to a couple of divisional games in the next few weeks.
