The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 19-17 in a game that had a bizarre ending. The Raiders were in a good position to win the game, but unfortunately for their fans, Las Vegas center Jackson Powers-Johnson snapped the ball to quarterback Aidan O’Connell with the connection resulting in a fumble.
Earlier, it was thought that there would be a false start call on the Raiders’ offense, but the officials ruled it as a fumble, and Kansas City got the ball back with only 11 seconds left on the clock. The defending Super Bowl champions once again won a game in which the officials appeared to be a factor, and NFL fans didn’t like it.
Fans Were Unconvinced by Kansas City Chiefs’ Win vs. Raiders
This isn’t the first time that Patrick Mahomes’ team has won a game after a controversial decision from the refs. As a result, fans on social media said various things about the Chiefs, including speculations about the officials favoring them.
Some fans thought the Raiders were the better team in Black Friday’s contest. However, luck has seemingly favored the Chiefs throughout the season, and they were able to get another win. Here’s how fans reacted to the result of their Week 13 game against the Raiders:
Worst 11-1 team of all time

“Mahomes gets bailed out yet again. You can’t make this up,” said one fan.
Another fan added, “Chiefs privilege exists!”

“Chiefs bailed out by the refs again,” said another fan.
“Luckiest team ever, this is actually a joke,” wrote one fan.
False Start 100%. That’s a HORRIBLE call that wins the Chiefs another game https://t.co/URYWJLISya

With the win today, Kansas City has improved to 11-1 on the season. Raiders quarterback O’Connell had a solid outing in his first game back from a thumb injury. He was 23-of-35 for 340 yards and two touchdowns, with a passer rating of 116.4.
Las Vegas’ offense moved the ball at will against a very good Chiefs defense, but their kicker let them down. Daniel Carlson had his worst game of the season and missed three field goals, which could have completely changed the outcome.
Hopefully for K.C. fans, this performance against the Raiders will be a wake-up call for Andy Reid and the Chiefs akin to their Christmas Day loss to Las Vegas in 2023.
Chiefs Set a New Record With Win on Black Friday
Since last season, the Chiefs have won 14 consecutive one-possession games, a new NFL record. Per Nick Wright, they have broken the 2003-04 New England Patriots’ streak, but as Mahomes mentioned last week, they would love to have blowout wins against inferior teams.
The left tackle position is a big concern for the Chiefs as Wanya Morris struggled massively against the Raiders, and Mahomes was sacked five times. Eventually, left guard Joe Thuney moved to the tackle position to replace Morris, and a change is inevitable next week.
Kansas City recently signed D.J. Humphries, and he is expected to start next week against the Los Angeles Chargers. The issues at the left and right tackle positions may be contributing to Mahomes’ struggles in 2024. Humphries can potentially hold down his spot and be a reliable option. As for Jawaan Taylor, Reid may need to get in his ear and work on limiting the penalties.
The Chiefs have already secured a playoff berth, but they want to get the top seed in the AFC. Mahomes is 9-2 against the Chargers in his career, and similar to the Week 13 game against the Raiders, Kansas City will be determined to go 2-0 against another divisional opponent this year.
