This morning, the Dallas Cowboys traded for Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson. After last night’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Jerry Jones teased that a trade deal had been completed, despite not announcing it at the time. The Cowboys, who are ranked 31st in PFSN’s Defensive Impact rankings, were desperate for a defensive upgrade; thus, they pursued this deal for Wilson.
While the hope is that Wilson will bring a much-needed upgrade to the horrendous Cowboys defense, others took to social media to laugh at “America’s Team.”
How Did Fans React to the Logan Wilson Trade?
As soon as the news was announced, fans wasted no time weighing in, with responses leaning heavily on humor and mockery.
This user finds irony in the Cowboys trading for a Bengals defensive player. While the Cowboys rank 31st in PFSN’s Defensive Impact rankings, the Bengals rank last in the league.
Can a defender from the worst defense in the league make the second-worst defense in the league a formidable unit?
the answer to saving te Cowboys defense is a Bengals defender pic.twitter.com/RBSlSYhmH7

This user highlights the insignificance of this trade when considering the rankings of both defenses. Both teams have struggled defensively this season, but can sending a player from one struggling team to another really make that much of a difference?
Two of the worst defenses in the league exchanging pleasantries.

This user is right, it is incredible that the Cowboys expect to upgrade their unit by trading for a defender on the worst team in the league. Fans aren’t taking this trade as a statement by the Cowboys, but rather a joke.
LMAO the two worst defenses in the history of the NFL making a deal for defensive players is absolutely incredible https://t.co/E2xZ4QFN3U

Whether or not this move makes the Cowboys better, it is definitely one that fans will be watching closely. Like this user, fans are already discounting Wilson and what he offers for the defense. After Week 10, we should have more answers on the type of impact he’ll have.
How does this make Dallas better lmaoooooo https://t.co/4dv5cwQDbe

Last night, after the Cowboys’ loss to the Cardinals, Jones spoke with the media and said that a deal could be done, but he didn’t name the parties involved. Fans had guessed several impact players, and when it turned out to be Wilson, those fans were disappointed.
Like this fan, most can’t believe that Wilson was the player that Jones was teasing.
This is the move jerry hyped? 😂😂😭😭

Whether this trade will alter the Cowboys’ season porjection, only time will tell. Some fans, like this fan, feel that the Cowboys made a marginal move at best.
This is the big move Jerry had up his sleeve?!?!?!?!??!!? smh. Now we will lose by 17 points instead of 21. @dallascowboys https://t.co/Q0dlc4fAFX pic.twitter.com/dNvAwToSVH

This fan points out a concern with the trade, namely that Wilson hasn’t played similarly to how he has in previous years. The fact that he was benched on a terrible Bengals defense is not good, suggesting he might not be a difference maker the Cowboys need.
