Drake Maye MVP conversations are heating up following the New England Patriots’ 24-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons, which pushed their record to 7-2 on the season.
Sitting alone atop the AFC East, the Patriots are establishing themselves once again as a legitimate powerhouse, thanks in large part to an offense that currently ranks seventh in PFSN’s NFL Offensive Impact chart rankings.
What stands out most about Maye this season isn’t just the production, it’s the command. The second-year quarterback has shown poise in high-leverage moments, confidence operating within the system, and the ability to elevate the players around him.
His progress from last year to now has been evident, and it’s a significant reason the Maye MVP conversation has begun gaining real traction.

Is Social Media Driving the Drake Maye MVP Hype?
Social media has played a major role in pushing the Maye MVP conversation into the national spotlight.
After nearly every Patriots game, fans rush to social media to post highlights and different reactions to Maye’s play. The majority of these posts call for Maye to be awarded the MVP award come February at the NFL Awards.

One fan perfectly summed up the growing excitement around the young quarterback in New England. This nickname, albeit a joke, captures just how quickly Maye has caught the attention of fans.

This user sums up what all Patriots fans are thinking: It’s Maye’s MVP season. What is understood doesn’t need to be explained, and what is understood is that Maye is playing like a top quarterback in the league.

Despite almost losing to the 3-5 Atlanta Falcons, the Patriots clutched and won the game. The praise for Maye’s late-game heroics is deserved, and it certainly reminds Patriots fans of a certain Hall of Fame quarterback they’re very familiar with.
7-2 and Drake Maye is still MVP. Now I’m gonna sit back and watch the Bills & the Chiefs kill each other. Hoping both teams lose.

Patriots fans can relish in a moment that they haven’t had since the Tom Brady days. Sitting at 7-2, not only are they atop the AFC East, but they’re also second in the conference behind only the Indianapolis Colts, which have a perfect 5-0 record against AFC opponents.
There’s still a way to go until the season ends, but fans are hoping that the Maye MVP agenda persists.
Is the Drake Maye MVP Conversation Legit?
Maye has taken a giant step forward compared to last season.
Last year, the rookie quarterback threw for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 13 games.
Through eight games during the 2025 season, Maye has thrown for 2,285 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only four interceptions while also rushing for 270 yards and two touchdowns. Both his 74.1% completion rate and 9.0 yards per attempt lead the NFL going into the Sunday night matchup between the Seahawks and Commanders.
Maye is clearly playing at an MVP level, and if he can maintain the same caliber of play over the second half of the season, he should be in to finish in the top five in voting, at minimum.
